Rashid Shaheed (toe/foot) won’t miss significant time
Rashid Shaheed (toe/foot) won’t be sidelined for an extended period of time.

Fantasy Impact

Shaheed’s toe/foot injury has raised some concerns about his availability, but HC Dennis Allen has eased those concerns when he told reporters that the veteran receiver isn’t expected to miss extended time. It remains to be seen when he will be back in the lineup, but he still has a bit of time to recover before New Orleans’ season opener.

Josh Downs at practice without a boot or scooter
It was reported on Wednesday that Josh Downs (ankle) was seen at practice without a boot or scooter, of which he had been using to recover from the high ankle sprain he suffered on Aug. 7.

Fantasy Impact

Downs was expected to miss about a month with his injury, so he appears to be making good progress. The second-year wideout recorded 771 yards and two touchdowns on 68 receptions in 2023 and will likely have a big role in the Colts’ offense again in 2024.

Curtis Samuel (toe) has ‘good chance’ for Week 1 return
Buffalo Bills WR Curtis Samuel, who is dealing with a toe injury, has a good chance to return for Buffalo’s season opener, says head coach Sean McDermott.

Fantasy Impact

McDermott said that he believes Samuel is nearing a return from what he’s heard from the Bills’ trainers, though the coach would not commit to the WR’s Week 1 availability. Samuel is considered week-to-week with turf toe but could be back in time for the regular season. He is expected to have a major role in Buffalo’s offense, especially considering his return to a Joe Brady-led offense (77 receptions, 1,051 scrimmage yards and five total TDs together in Carolina in 2020).

Noah Fant (foot) likely to play Week 1
Noah Fant (foot) is likely to be ready to play prior to Seattle’s Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Impact

Fant is dealing with some kind of a foot injury that is still affecting his availability at training camp. It’s not a very serious issue at this point, however, and the team expects him to be ready to go by their season opener. He remains a fringe flex option for fantasy purposes this season.
