Fantasy Football Consistency: Wide Receiver Performance (2024)

Finding consistent fantasy assets can lead to a stress-free fantasy football season. Even if the potential for massive games doesn’t happen, it’s always nice to know what players you can slot into your lineup, and they’ll be there to get you enough points that make them easy to roster.

Here, I’ll examine wide receivers who have been consistent assets as we head into 2024 and gauge whether that trend will continue. The tools I’ll be using are FantasyPros ADP for PPR leagues and FantasyPros data for fantasy finishes since 2021. I’ll also be examining finishes from Week 1 to Week 17 as this is when most seasons begin and end.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Consistency

CeeDee Lamb (WR – DAL) | ADP: WR1

CeeDee Lamb is going as the WR1 in PPR leagues right now at the 1.02 spot, and rightfully so. Since his sophomore 2021 season, Lamb has finished as the WR15 or better. That improved in 2022 with a WR6 finish. Finally, he topped it off with a WR1 finish in 2023. Looking back at 2021, Lamb missed one game. If you add his average points (15.1) to that start he would’ve finished as the WR11 and would have been a WR1.

Since 2021, Lamb has seen at least 120 targets and recorded 1,100+ yards. He’s coming off a season with 181 targets and 135 catches, and there might be even less competition than a year ago with Michael Gallup retiring.

Ja’Marr Chase (WR – CIN) | ADP: WR3

Amid the fallout with Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase is still the top dog in the Bengals offense. He was the WR5 in 2021, WR16 in 2022 despite missing four games and WR10 even after quarterback Joe Burrow missed nearly half the season.

If Chase scored his average points (18.6) per game missed in 2022, he would’ve finished as the WR5.

The Bengals lost Tyler Boyd this season. Chase and a healthy Burrow should have a monstrous season.

Mike Evans (WR – TB) | ADP: WR14

No receiver has been more consistent than Mike Evans. Since entering the NFL in 2014, Evans has never seen fewer than 109 targets, caught fewer than 67 passes or recorded fewer than 1,001 yards. He’s had five seasons with double-digit touchdown receptions and eight with six or more. He’s done this with a myriad of quarterbacks such as Jameis Winston, Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield. Evans was WR7 in 2023 with Mayfield, which was better than any season he played with Brady.

Evans is in his 30s now, but he’s been a model of consistency.

Michael Pittman Jr. (WR – IND) | ADP: WR17

Since 2021, Pittman Jr. has never finished worse than WR20. Remember, he’s had some really interesting quarterbacks since then, including Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Nick Foles, Sam Ehlinger, Gardner Minshew and Anthony Richardson. In that span, he’s had 129+ targets, caught 88+ passes and had two seasons with 1,000+ yards. His biggest issue has been getting into the end zone – he has just 14 touchdowns over the last three seasons.

With Richardson at the helm, this should hopefully change as his arm can utilize Pittman’s unique deep-threat ability. Going as the WR17 after finishing as the WR13, with most of the season being quarterbacked by Minshew, Pittman Jr. has a chance to be a WR1 this season, even with Adonai Mitchell now in the fold.

Jaylen Waddle (WR – MIA) | ADP: WR20

In 2021, Waddle was a rookie. Since then, he’s had 1,000+ yards each season, caught 72+ passes and never saw fewer than 100 targets. The addition of Tyreek Hill has certainly taken some production away, as he scored just four touchdowns last year, but he also missed three games. In 2023, Waddle was the WR29. If you add his 14.2 points to each game missed, he would’ve been the WR13, and that’s with Hill on the roster.

If you’re looking for a sure-fire WR2 in your PPR leagues, Waddle might be the best candidate if he stays on the field. He’s been highly productive whenever he plays, scoring 10.2+ points in 10 of his 14 games in 2023.
