News & Notes
Paul Sewald and Evan Phillips have both essentially lost their closer roles. It wasn’t officially announced for Phillips, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he “could be used in save situations or pitch earlier in games” as of the last week of July.
A.J. Puk and Kevin Ginkel figure to see save chances in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen moving forward with any of Phillips, Daniel Hudson, Michael Kopech or Blake Treinen seeing high-leverage innings in the Dodgers’ bullpen.
Carlos Estevez was traded to the Phillies and appears to have the lead closer role, but it isn’t super secure. The closer role for Clay Holmes is also a little volatile given his recent struggles.
