Sorare: MLB – July Chase

Sorare: MLB – July Chase

One of the most exciting ways to enjoy the MLB fantasy experience, Sorare gamifies card collecting in a fantasy baseball setting. How does it work? Collect cards (buy, sell, and trade), compete with them (fantasy baseball and collection game), and win rewards (cards, cash, VIP experiences, and more). Sorare has undergone a facelift for the 2024 season, so be sure to give yourself some time before the new Game Week starts to familiarize yourself with the new interface. Sorare: MLB – July Chase

July Chase is set to be the most exciting yet. $100,000 in cash rewards are available across the rarities, with a brand new Common Chase event being added. The Common July Chase will have $10,000 in cash rewards, including $1,000 to first place! The top prize for the other rarities starts at $5,000 for the Limited competition and maxes out at $15,000 for the Unique competition. As a reminder, the July Chase will run for the last four Game Weeks of the month, with your top three scores counting towards your final cumulative score. So set your best lineups and be sure to join as many rarities as you can.

July Chase Targets

Kutter Crawford (P – BOS)
Crawford struggled through the first three months of the season but has been sparkling in late June/July, matching his season win total with three while tossing 20.0 innings of 0.45 ERA, 0.55 WHIP ball. His first start (Dodgers) is not the team you seek from two start pitchers, but we are riding with the hot arm here. He could get a third start on the final day of this competition, which would be welcomed news given his opponents on his first two. His market value has seemingly spiked in recent days due to instant buy’s, but can still be added to rosters where needed.

Colt Keith (2B/3B – DET)
Keith has been cooking over his last 43 at-bats, hitting .395 while scoring 14 runs, smacking five homers, driving in 13 runs, and stealing one base. He’s been racking up the fantasy points at Sorare to the point where his market value has surpassed that of players with much more name equity. Yes, this is correlated to instant buy inflation, but the market is the market. If you have the inclination to take the plunge with the 22 year old rookie, it’s an addition that could pay dividends for years. This is true for all Sorare players, even those with no intention of adding players just for a competition.

Byron Buxton (OF – MIN)
Buxton is in the midst of a hot streak, making him the perfect target for July Chase lineups. He’s a known quantity with proven upside; the only caveat being that his availability is often an issue. That said, he is healthy now and has hit safely in 27 of his last 70 at-bats for a .386 average with 19 runs, five home runs, 16 RBI, and one stolen base. The batting average is going to come back to earth, but he’s proven that he can cobble together extended strong surges of play when healthy, and this looks like another one. Add him to July Chase lineups where needed.

Brice Turang (2B/SS – MIL)
Turang has been sensational on the base paths this season, coming in at second in the league with 30 swipes. He has struggled over the last two plus weeks but is still hitting .273 on the season. He has shown enough plate discipline that we can hold out hope of him righting the ship sooner rather than later, as he needs to get on base to provide the value we are seeking. Turang has the Marlins and Cubs on the schedule for July Chase, giving him the type of opponents that elevates a player’s potential upside for a multi-week competition like this. Take advantage of his recent struggles and add Turang to your roster for a relative pittance.

Taj Bradley (P – TB)
Bradley is cooking for the Rays and is worth a long look for the July Chase. He’s bounced back after a forgettable start to June and has picked up two wins while sporting a 1.20 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 35 strikeouts in his last 30.0 innings pitched. Bradley is slated to take on the Toronto Blue Jays and the Miami Marlins during this competition, making him an elite multi-start pitching option. His market value should meet subjective value for most, and at just 23 years of age, he can be a long-time contributor to your Sorare squad, especially in competitions that don’t restrict cards from previous seasons.
