The Open Championship was a hell of a ride. This column correctly identified Champion Golfer of the Year Xander Schauffele as the leverage pick to roster and pick the field clean. Despite 10 of the top 20 golfers in the world missing the cut at Royal Troon, our wind-adjusted stat model brought some great plays into the player pool and rained cash like a Scottish squall.
The 3M Open is a return stateside to the familiar parkland-style layout. Only two events remain before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin, with the Paris Olympics wedged between them. This field is not the strongest but includes plenty of rising stars and guys who are on the cusp of qualifying for the playoffs. For most tournaments of this nature, leverage against the field in DFS gameplay isn’t easy, but that isn’t the case this week. I am expecting staggering returns this week and will play aggressively.

TPC Twin Cities is a fun par-71 track in Blaine, Minnesota. It stretches to about 7,400 yards, which is about average on the PGA Tour. The fairways and greens are bentgrass throughout and are generous in size. The size of the green complexes means more of a focus will be on approach proximities and putting, rather than around the green and scrambling.
Water is in play throughout the course, especially running along the right side of the fairways and around some of the greens. Creating and converting birdie opportunities will be very important, especially since the conditions will be pristine compared to last week’s slog on the links. Driving distance is a plus, but only when combined with accuracy. Long hitters who find trouble off the tee (water) will quickly play their way out of contention. Let’s dig in.
