Ja’Marr Chase doesn’t practice Monday
Ja’Marr Chase didn’t practice on Monday as he awaits a new contract.

Fantasy Impact

Chase is due for a contract extension in the near future, and he has been refraining from practicing until the situation is resolved. It’s unclear if that is going to happen anytime soon, and he reportedly doesn’t plan on practicing until he and the team get something done. This isn’t anything major yet, but we’re starting to approach the line of concern if he doesn’t log a practice session sometime this week.

Gardner Minshew II splitting starting reps at practice
Gardner Minshew II has been splitting starting reps at practice with Aidan O’Connell.

Fantasy Impact

Minshew and O’Connell are in a competition for the starting QB job in Las Vegas, and it doesn’t appear that one has pulled ahead of the other yet. They are still splitting reps at practice, and the coaching staff has yet to indicate which way they’re leaning. Their first preseason game is in less than two weeks, so fantasy managers should remain hopeful that we get some clarity on this situation some time in the near future.

Theo Johnson running with first team
Theo Johnson took the majority of the first-team reps at New York’s practice on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

Johnson, a fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft, has a chance to earn the starting TE job in New York prior to the start of the season. He took a majority of the first-team snaps at Monday’s practice, which is a good sign that he’s trending the right way. His only real competition for the job is Daniel Bellinger, but if the rookie can beat him out, he could find himself with sneaky good streaming value on a Giants’ offense that desperately needs playmakers.
