It’s that time of  year again! We’re less than two months out from the start of the 2024 NFL season, and there’s nothing else newsworthy happening in the United States this fall. That means fantasy drafts are just a few weeks away, so it’s time to get prepared!

The foundation of a good fantasy draft is a good set of rankings to guide you. Lucky for us, there is a significant industry of fantasy football experts putting all their brain cells into making the best rankings they can. But whose rankings are the best? That’s what this article aims to answer. Since 2010 we have been tracking rankings and evaluating the accuracy of as many experts as we can find.

Before we get to the results, it’s worth briefly going over how we evaluate the accuracy of rankings. If you want the details, you can see the full accuracy methodology here. We start by determining the player pool – we look at any player who was ranked highly in the preseason, or finished highly at the end of the season (or both). This way we include sleepers, busts, and everyone in between. We then compare each expert’s rankings to the actual final rankings in terms of fantasy points. We compare them using a rank-value template, in order to quantify the “error” of the prediction implied by each rank. To get our final accuracy standings, we aggregate the player-level errors within each position to get expert scores for each positions, and then combine QB, WR, RB and TE to get our overall accuracy standings.

Without further ado, here are the experts who had the most accurate fantasy football draft rankings for the 2023 season!

• Congratulations to our winner, Christopher Dell from Betting Predators! Christopher takes the crown in just his fourth year competing, besting 235 of the fantasy industry’s brightest. He has the incredible distinction of being one of only two experts to rank in the top 10 at more than one position, and he did it for the two most important – running backs and wide receivers.
• The silver medal goes to David Kluge from Footballguys! Kluge is a relative newcomer, reaching the #2 spot in just his third year submitting rankings. Kluge has proven himself to be a bit of a receiver specialist, ranking among the top 10 experts for both wide receivers and tight ends.
• The third expert on our podium Dan Larocca from Rotoballer! Dan is also a third-year competitor, reaching the podium to follow up a strong top-50 finish in 2022 (which is quite good, in a field of over 200 professionals). Dan’s success was the result of a strong showing at WR and RB – he is one of only two experts to reach the top 20 at both positions.

Most Accurate Experts by Position

Overall accuracy is important, but we like to also recognize the best experts at ranking each individual position, especially given that DST, K and IDP don’t factor into overall accuracy. MasterIDP aka Leo from RPO Football has lived up to his title. In just two seasons, Leo has already built an impressive resume in the competitive space of IDP rankings. This win follows up a #3 finish in his first year, and he was also the #1 most accurate ranker for weekly in-season rankings both years. Three gold medals and and bronze in just four chances is pretty good.

Multi-Year Accuracy

Knowing who had the best rankings last year is one thing, but if you want to know who to listen to this year, it’s worth asking which experts have been able to maintain their success across multiple seasons.
