Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Gavin Stone (LAD) vs. ARI
Gavin Stone spun a shutout in his last start, and he's on fire entering tonight's turn. He's allowed three runs or fewer in six straight contests and yielded two or fewer in 11 of his past 13 starts. In his last five starts, totaling 32.0 innings, Stone has twirled a 1.97 ERA, 3.86 xFIP, 3.81 SIERA, 1.00 WHIP, 6.3 BB%, 23.0 K%, 28.2 CSW%, 97 Stuff+, 106 Location+ and 104 Pitching+.
Stone's matchup is midpack. The Diamondbacks are 14th in wRC+ (99) with a 20.6 K% versus righties and tied for 12th in wRC+ (100) with a 22.2 K% on the road this year. Arizona was also tied for 19th in wRC+ (93) with a 20.1 K% in the previous 14 days. Thus, the Dodgers are -215, and the game's total is 9.0 runs.
Logan Gilbert (SEA) at BAL
Logan Gilbert has been a model of consistency. He's allowed three runs or fewer in eight of his previous nine starts and pitched at least 6.0 innings in nine consecutive starts and 14 of his last 15. In Gilbert's last five starts spanning 35.2 innings, he's had a 1.51 ERA, 3.16 xFIP, 3.13 SIERA, 0.62 WHIP, 0.8 BB%, 24.2 K%, 30.0 CSW%, 111 Stuff+, 104 Location+ and 106 Pitching+.
Gilbert's matchup against the Orioles is dreadful. Nevertheless, Gilbert has the pitching skills to tame them, and the betting info is rock-solid. The Mariners are -116, and the game's total is 7.5 runs.
Ryan Pepiot (TB) at KC
Ryan Pepiot has had a 5.33 ERA in his last five starts, totaling 25.1 innings. His ERA wasn't exciting. However, Pepiot's underlying data was eye-catching. In that span, he had a 3.47 xFIP, 3.34 SIERA, 1.34 WHIP, 8.3 BB%, 29.4 K%, 28.8 CSW%, 118 Stuff+, 95 Location+ and 104 Pitching+.
It's exciting to bet on Pepiot's underlying data at his bargain salary since he's drawing the Royals at the right time. In the previous 14 days, Kansas City was 25th in wRC+ (83) with a 22.1 K%. Pepiot's not a risk-free choice, but his upside is worth chasing in GPPs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Brewers are fifth in wRC+ (114) versus righties and 10th in wRC+ (103) on the road. They were also 12th in wRC+ (112) in the previous 14 days. They didn't take advantage of Coors Field's hitter-friendly park factors last night, but they have another golden opportunity tonight. In Dakota Hudson's last five starts, he's had a 7.77 ERA, 5.72 xFIP, 5.86 SIERA, 1.93 WHIP, -0.9 K-BB% and allowed 1.48 HR/9. Hudson has allowed a .327 wOBA to righties and a .382 wOBA to lefties this season. Therefore, Milwaukee's lineup is stackable from top to bottom, lefties and righties.
- Home (Coors Field)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 11.0 Runs/COL +135
Colin Rea has overachieved lately. In his last five appearances (four starts), he's had a 3.25 ERA, 4.57 xFIP and 4.30 SIERA. Coors Field could be precisely what's needed to regress Rea's ERA. Finally, the veteran righty has struggled with lefties, coughing up a .347 wOBA to 203 left-handed batters this year.
Core Studs
- Christian Yelich is having an excellent season at the plate. In 259 plate appearances this year, he's hit eight homers and stolen 19 bases with a .403 OBP, .171 ISO and 155 wRC+.
- In 565 plate appearances against righties at home since 2022, Ryan McMahon has hit 26 homers with a .328 OBP, .220 ISO, .346 wOBA and 91 wRC+.
- In 133 career plate appearances against righties, Garrett Mitchell has had a .353 OBP, .160 ISO and 120 wRC+.
Value Plays/Punts
- In 366 plate appearances against righties at home since 2022, Brendan Rodgers has hit seven homers with a .352 OBP, .145 ISO, .346 wOBA and 92 wRC+.
- In 283 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Edmundo Sosa has hit 10 homers with a .320 OBP, .234 ISO and 125 wRC+.
- Chris Taylor has distanced himself from the stench of a brutal start to the season. Since June 1, he's hit two homers and stolen two bases with a .326 OBP, .225 ISO and 134 wRC+ in 43 plate appearances.

Aaron Judge: 11.0 Fantasy Points - More (PrizePicks)
Aaron Judge is destroying everything in sight. In 374 plate appearances this year, Judge has hit 32 homers and stolen five bases with a .440 OBP, .397 ISO, .478 wOBA, .482 xwOBA and 218 wRC+. Andrew Abbott is unlikely to slow Judge since he's allowed a .327 wOBA to 281 right-handed batters this year.
Christian Yelich: 10.0 Fantasy Points - Higher/More
In addition to Yelich's excellent numbers this year, he has a track record of success against righties. Since 2022, he's had a .384 OBP, .170 ISO and 132 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. And, again, Hudson has coughed up a blistering .382 wOBA to lefties this season.
Ryan McMahon: 8.0 Fantasy Points - Higher (Underdog)
Ryan McMahon: 7.5 Fantasy Points - More (PrizePicks)
I highlighted McMahon's success at home against righties in the core studs section. The veteran infielder is also having a career year at the plate, smacking 14 homers and stealing three bases with a .347 OBP, .187 ISO, .349 wOBA, .351 xwOBA and 112 wRC+ in 359 plate appearances.
