Today’s MLB DFS & Player Props Picks
Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Paul Skenes (PIT) at HOU
Paul Skenes doesn't have a cupcake matchup. According to FanGraphs, the Astros are tied for sixth in wRC+ (110) with a 19.1 K% versus righties and tied for first in wRC+ (123) with a 17.9 K% at home this year. However, Houston was 19th in wRC+ (103) with a 21.2 K% since July 1.
Skenes is also an elite pitcher, and the betting info is favorable. Among tonight's probable starters, Skenes has the lowest ERA (1.93), xERA (2.55) and SIERA (2.40) in 2024 and the highest strikeout rate (34.2 K%) and second-lowest WHIP (0.87). Additionally, in five starts on the road spanning 31.1 innings, the rookie has had a 0.86 ERA, 1.23 xFIP, 0.61 WHIP, 4.5 BB%, 43.2 K% and five quality starts. Thus, the Pirates are -158, and the game's total is 7.5 runs.
Nathan Eovaldi (TEX) at STL
Nathan Eovaldi is having a stellar season. In 18 starts spanning 106.0 innings this year, Eovaldi has had a 3.31 ERA, 3.76 xERA, 3.46 SIERA, 1.04 WHIP, 6.1 BB%, 24.6 K%, 29.5 CSW%, 97 Stuff+, 104 Location+ and 104 Pitching+. The 34-year-old righty is also in good form, spinning five quality starts in his previous seven turns and pitching at least 6.0 innings six times.
Eovaldi's matchup is mixed, and the betting info is as well. The Cardinals are tied for 10th in wRC+ (106) with a 23.2 K% versus righties and 16th in wRC+ (103) with a 21.2 K% at home this season. Finally, the Rangers are -120, and the game's total is 8.5 runs.
Alec Marsh (KC) at CWS
There isn't a favorable way to spin Alec Marsh's numbers. Nevertheless, Marsh has had some DFS-caliber starts and has a drool-inducing matchup tonight.
The White Sox are 30th in wRC+ (72) with a 24.3 K% versus righties and 30th in wRC+ (73) with a 22.6 K% at home. Chicago was also 30th in wRC+ (66) with a 27.0 K% since July 1. They are literally last in wRC+ in every applicable split. As a result, the Royals are -170, albeit the game's total is 9.0 runs. Marsh is a viable SP2 at an affordable salary at DK.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Nationals are underdogs on the road tonight, and their numbers against lefties, on the road and since July 1 weren't impressive. Therefore, they might be an overlooked stack tonight. They shouldn't be, though. Jordan Montgomery has been a tire fire this year. In 14 starts, he's had a 6.11 ERA, 5.18 xERA, 4.92 SIERA and 1.61 WHIP. Montgomery isn't shaking out of his season-long slump, either. He's had a 6.49 ERA and 4.92 SIERA in his past six starts. Montgomery has been entirely inept against righties, yielding a .390 wOBA to 267 right-handed batters this year, making Washington's righties exciting stacking selections.
- Home (Chase Field)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 9.0 Runs/ARI -170
The Diamondbacks can also light up the scoreboard in Arizona tonight. They are eighth in wRC+ (115) versus lefties and tied for 12th in wRC+ (109) at home. The Diamondbacks and Mitchell Parker are also two ships passing in the night. While Arizona was fourth in wRC+ (126) since July 1, Parker was in a rut. In the young lefty's previous 10 starts, he had a 5.12 ERA and 4.49 SIERA. The Diamondbacks can extend Parker's woes for another night.
Core Studs
- Injuries were the only thing to slow down Royce Lewis this season. In 109 plate appearances this year, he's hit 11 homers with a .358 OBP, .398 ISO and 186 wRC+.
- In 566 plate appearances against righties since 2022, Oneil Cruz has hit 27 homers with a .332 OBP, .232 ISO and 129 wRC+.
- In 493 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Lane Thomas has hit 20 homers with a .353 OBP, .209 ISO and 136 wRC+. He's also a base stealer, swiping 28 this season.

- In 331 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Harold Ramirez has hit eight homers with a .381 OBP, .123 ISO and 146 wRC+.

Check out our best picks on the MLB Underdog Cheat Sheet
Oneil Cruz: 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs - Higher (Underdog)/More (PrizePicks)
Cruz is in a groove. In Cruz's previous 84 plate appearances, he's had a .320 batting average with 14 runs and 19 RBIs in 20 games (19 starts). He exceeded 1.5 hits plus runs and RBIs in 12 of those 19 starts. The toolsy shortstop has a plus matchup against Jake Bloss tonight. Bloss has yielded a .379 batting average, .419 OBP and .690 slugging to 31 lefties this season.
Yuan Yepez: 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs - Higher/More
In 19 games, Yepez has had a .361 batting average, .306 xBA .583 slugging, .417 xSLG, 13 runs and 14 RBIs. Clearly, he's had some fortunate luck on his batted balls. Nevertheless, Yepez has raked, climbing to the heart of Washington's lineup. Yepez has cleared 1.5 hits plus runs and RBIs in 13 of 19 starts.
Harold Ramirez: 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs - Higher/More
Ramirez's over for 1.5 hits plus runs and RBIs correlates with Yepez's since they're tied together in the third and fourth spots in Washington's lineup. Ramirez has played well for the Nationals after a sluggish beginning of the year on the Rays. In 48 plate appearances with the Nationals, he's had a .319 batting average, .468 slugging, .149 ISO, five runs and 13 RBIs. Finally, Ramirez has cleared 1.5 hits plus runs and RBIs in his past five starts.
