Friday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Tyler Glasnow (LAD) vs. MIL
Tyler Glasnow was dreadful in his last start but had no apparent reason for the messy turn. Thus, writing it off as a blip on the radar is reasonable. The righty has otherwise been sharp in his first season on the Dodgers. According to FanGraphs, in 17 starts spanning 103.0 innings this year, Glasnow has had a 3.23 ERA, 2.49 xERA, 2.65 SIERA, 0.93 WHIP, 6.7 BB%, 33.9 K%, 30.4 CSW%, 117 Stuff+, 103 Location+ and 107 Pitching+.
Glasnow's matchup against the Brewers would typically be imposing. Milwaukee is tied for fifth in wRC+ (113) with a 22.7 K% versus righties and 11th in wRC+ (103) with a 21.9 K% on the road this season. However, this will be their first contest after a series at Coors Field, so they might take a game or two to adjust to pitch movement outside of Colorado. Therefore, the Dodgers are -200, and the game's total is 8.0 runs.
Max Fried (ATL) vs. PHI
Max Fried doesn't have an ideal matchup. The Phillies are tied for seventh in wRC+ (116) with a 23.0 K% against lefties and sixth in wRC+ (109) with a 23.3 K% on the road. Nevertheless, Fried has the goods to mow down even a talented lineup, and the betting info is stellar.
In Fried's previous five starts totaling 29.1 innings, he's had a 2.76 ERA, 3.37 xFIP, 3.59 SIERA, 1.19 WHIP, 7.3 BB%, 24.4 K% and 29.1 CSW%. Finally, the Braves are -140, and the game's total is a pitching-friendly 7.5 runs.
Drew Thorpe (CWS) at MIA
Drew Thorpe was lights out in Double-A, and he's had only one hiccup in four starts in the majors. He's pitched at least 5.0 innings and allowed two runs or fewer in three of four big-league starts, striking out at least four batters in those three starts and spinning back-to-back quality starts.
The rookie righty can maintain his momentum in a drool-inducing matchup. The Marlins are tied for 27th in wRC+ (82) with a 22.5 K% versus righties and 26th in wRC+ (85) with a 21.0 K% at home this year. Miami was also 30th in wRC+ (64) with a 26.6 K% in the previous 14 days.
Shane Baz (TB) at TEX
Shane Baz was spectacular in his final five rehab starts in Triple-A. In 23.0 innings in that stretch, he had a 1.57 ERA, 1.78 FIP, 1.30 WHIP, 10.4 BB% and 36.5 K%. Furthermore, Baz threw 93 pitches in his final rehab start, giving him a solid foundation in his first start for the Rays this year.
Baz's matchup is also inviting. The Rangers are 24th in wRC+ (92) with a 19.8 K% versus righties and 21st in wRC+ (96) with a 20.4 K% at home this year. Yet, the Rangers were 11th in wRC+ (114) in the previous 14 days, and Baz could be rusty against big-league hitters, making him an option only in GPPs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Royals will get the Coors Field boost in their first game of a series in Colorado. They also have a tantalizing matchup. In six starts this year, Kyle Freeland has had a 7.94 ERA, 5.34 xERA and 5.30 SIERA. The veteran lefty has allowed a .323 wOBA to lefties and a .389 wOBA to righties this season. Moreover, Colorado's relievers have an MLB-high 5.66 ERA, the only one higher than 5.00. Finally, all of Kansas City's projected starters have had at least a 100 wRC+ against lefties since 2022, with five tallying at least a 110 wRC+ and three sporting at least a 123 wRC+.
- Road (PETCO Park)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.5 Runs/ARI EVEN
Randy Vasquez has been torched this year. In 11 starts, he's had a 4.88 ERA, 6.64 xERA, 4.85 SIERA and allowed 1.74 HR/9. The righty has also allowed a .323 wOBA to righties and a .505 wOBA to left-handed batters. It's an eruption spot for the Diamondbacks.

Drew Thorpe: 4.0 Strikeouts - Higher (Underdog)/More (PrizePicks)
In four starts in the majors this year, Thorpe has struck out four, zero, five and four batters. Thus, he's at least reached tonight's line in three of four starts. Thorpe also struck out 56 batters in 60.0 innings in Double-A this year, clearing 4.0 strikeouts in three of his final four starts and seven of 11, with one four-strikeout performance. Thorpe is drawing the Marlins at an ideal time to strike them out. Miami has had the fourth-highest strikeout rate (26.6 K%) in the previous 14 days.
Bobby Witt: 11.5 Fantasy Points - Higher/More
In addition to Witt's excellent numbers this year, he's above average against lefties. After tallying an underwhelming 93 wRC+ against lefties in his debut in 2022, Witt has recorded a 130 wRC+ in 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, the 118 righties who've faced Freeland this year have had a .389 wOBA.
Freddy Fermin: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher/More
In 116 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Fermin has hit nine doubles and three homers with a .299 batting average, .467 slugging and .168 ISO. Right-handed batters have park factors of 1.160 for singles, 1.380 for doubles, 1.940 for triples and 1.323 for homers. Finally, Freeland has yielded four doubles, one triple, four homers, a .333 batting average and .505 slugging to righties this year.
