Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Superflex, PPR, Early Pick (2024)

While most redraft leagues won’t have their fantasy football draft until next month, now is the time to prepare for the upcoming season. Everyone knows practice makes perfect, and there is no better way to practice fantasy football mock drafts than with the FantasyPros Mock Draft Simulator.

I am picking first in this 12-team, superflex, and PPR-scoring redraft mock draft. The lineup for this mock draft is one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, one tight end, one flex, one superflex, and five bench spots.

My goal for this mock draft was to use two of my first three picks on a quarterback while waiting until the seventh round to select my first running back. Let’s see how it turned out.

Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Superflex, PPR, Early Pick

Round 1, Pick 1 – Patrick Mahomes (QB – KC)

Many fantasy experts will have Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts as their top quarterback this season. However, Mahomes is my clear-cut QB1 despite coming off the worst year of his career, averaging fewer than 20.5 fantasy points per game for the first time as the starter. He is prime for a massive bounce-back year after the Chiefs added Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy this offseason. With Travis Kelce 100% and Rashee Rice‘’s suspension possibly being pushed to 2025, Mahomes could have the best season of his career.

Round 2, Pick 12 A.J. Brown (WR – PHI)

Brown has been an elite WR1 since joining the Eagles, ending the 2022 season as the WR6 and the WR5 in 2023 in PPR scoring. He has set a career-high in receptions and targets in 2022 (88-146) and 2023 (106-158). Furthermore, Brown finished top five in receiving yards and top six in air-yardage share in both years with Philadelphia (per Fantasy Points Data) despite playing alongside DeVonta Smith. He could be even better this season after the addition of Saquon Barkley, as defenses will be determined to stop the run.

Round 3, Pick 1 –Jayden Daniels (QB – WAS)

Quarterbacks who can make explosive plays with their legs are worth their weight in gold. Therefore, Daniels has massive upside and could turn into a league winner, especially as my QB2. He had 2,019 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns during his two years at LSU. Furthermore, Daniels had a 10-1 touchdown to interception ratio in 2023. The Commanders have a solid set of weapons and will be chasing points for much of the upcoming season. Therefore, the rookie will have plenty of opportunities to put up significant fantasy points.

Round 4, Pick 12 – Nico Collins (WR – HOU)

Collins was my favorite late-round pick in 2023, and it paid off. While fantasy players must draft him several rounds earlier this year, he is worth the price tag. The former Michigan star led the team in receptions (80), targets (109), receiving yards (1,297), touchdowns (eight), and fantasy points per game (17.4) last season. Tank Dell is coming off a significant leg injury, while Stefon Diggs is on the wrong side of 30 and has had back-to-back years with late-season struggles. Collins is Houston’s clear-cut No. 1 receiver.

Round 5, Pick 1 – Travis Kelce (TE – KC)

There would be no way that Kelce would have lasted this long in any fantasy draft a year ago. However, the future Hall of Famer is coming off his worst fantasy season since 2016. Yet, the Chiefs recently signed the veteran to an extension. More importantly, he played like a superstar during the NFL playoffs, averaging 88.8 receiving yards, 0.8 touchdowns, and 21.5 fantasy points per game. While Kansas City added multiple wide receivers this offseason, Kelce should remain Patrick Mahomes’ go-to weapon in the passing game.

Round 6, Pick 12 – Christian Kirk (WR – JAX)

The last time Kirk was Trevor Lawrence’s go-to wide receiver, he ended the year as the WR12, averaging 14.2 PPR fantasy points per game. Furthermore, the veteran was the WR17, averaging 14.5 fantasy points per game from Week 2 through Week 12, despite Calvin Ridley seeing a 20% target per route run rate during those contests last season (per Fantasy Points Data). With Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr. challenging defenses downfield, expect Kirk to see plenty of easy targets in the middle of the field.

Round 7, Pick 1 – Joe Mixon (RB – HOU)

While he hasn’t been the most efficient running back, Mixon has had three consecutive top-10 finishes in PPR scoring. Some are concerned that the veteran won’t see the same volume in Houston that he had with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, that won’t be the case. Last year, the Texans’ backfield averaged 22 touches per contest. Furthermore, Devin Singletary was the RB9 from Week 10 through Week 18 as the featured guy, averaging 19.4 touches and 14.3 fantasy points per game. Mixon will remain a low-end RB1 in Houston.

Round 8, Pick 12 – Jonathon Brooks (RB – CAR)

Brooks is one of my must-have running backs this year. The former Longhorn would have a top-20, maybe top-15 ADP if he wasn’t coming off a torn ACL. Brooks averaged 6.1 rushing yards per attempt and 113.9 yards per game last season. He had the 11th-most missed tackles forced (63) in 2023 despite missing the final four games with the injury (per PFF). Last year, Dave Canales made Rachaad White an RB1 despite averaging only 3.6 yards per rushing attempt. Brooks will be significantly better once he is 100% healthy.

Round 9, Pick 1 – Jayden Reed (WR – GB)

Fantasy players will debate which receiver is the No. 1 guy in Green Bay. Christian Watson offers more upside but has struggled to stay healthy. Meanwhile, Reed was the WR25, averaging 13.6 PPR fantasy points per game as a rookie. The former Michigan State star led the team in target per route run rate (26%) while ranking second in yards per route run (2.23) as a rookie among wide receivers with at least 70 routes run (per Fantasy Points Data). Reed should only get better as Jordan Love develops.

Round 10, Pick 12 – Ladd McConkey (WR – LAC)

The Chargers have had one of the top passing attacks the past few years. However, that will change under Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman’s run-heavy offense. While the team’s wide receiver core is far from elite, McConkey could become a PPR star early in his rookie season. The former Georgia star has shined during offseason practices. More importantly, he is the likely candidate to adsorb a massive chunk of Keenan Allen’s 150 targets from last year. Expect McConkey to quickly become Justin Herbert’s go-to wide receiver.

Round 11, Pick 1 – Trey Benson (RB – ARI)

While the Cardinals used a third-round pick on Benson, the rookie running back won’t replace James Conner as the featured guy in 2024. However, he will have RB1 weeks when Conner inevitably misses time with an injury. The veteran running back has missed four games in back-to-back years. Meanwhile, the former Florida State star is an explosive runner with home-run speed, making him a dangerous player with the ball in his hands. Benson will have some week-winning performances and could be a league winner if Conner misses significant time.

Round 12, Pick 12 – Jaleel McLaughlin (RB – DEN)

Denver’s backfield is a wide-open competition. However, McLaughlin is the guy fantasy players want on their team. He averaged 13.2 PPR fantasy points per game and 6.9 yards per rushing attempt in the four contests with at least seven attempts as a rookie. Furthermore, McLaughlin had the 12th-best explosive run rate among running backs with at least 75 rushing attempts in 2023 (per Fantasy Points Data). Expect Sean Payton to view him as his next Alvin Kamara and give McLaughlin a significant workload, especially in the passing game.

Round 13, Pick 1 – Will Levis (QB – TEN)

Levis was outstanding in his career debut, throwing four touchdowns and scoring 26.6 fantasy points. Unfortunately, the rookie had only four passing touchdowns and 75.4 fantasy points (9.4 per game) over the other eight contests in 2023. Thankfully, Tennessee significantly upgraded its supporting cast this offseason, signing Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd and Lloyd Cushenberry III. The Titans also used their top-10 pick on JC Latham, giving the young quarterback a franchise left tackle. Don’t be surprised if Levis has a sophomore-year breakout under new head coach Brian Callahan.

Round 14, Pick 12 – Javon Baker (WR – NE)

The Patriots have arguably the most underwhelming wide receiver core in the NFL. However, Baker is one of my favorite last-round draft picks this year. We have seen NFL Draft Day 3 picks turn into fantasy stars as a rookie, including Puka Nacua and Amon-Ra St. Brown. More importantly, Baker had the 11th-high PFF receiving grade in the draft class last season and posted a higher yards per route run average than Rome Odunze (3.21 vs. 2.93). Furthermore, he ranked in the 97th percentile in college target share.
