You should be grinding the two-start pitchers to give you an advantage over your competition every week.
Each week, I will give you a breakdown of the two-start options for your fantasy leagues broken up into the following tiers:
- Must Start: Pitchers you have to start because of their talent/matchups.
- Should Start: Pitchers rostered in most formats and who should probably be in your lineup.
- Here We Go: Pitchers you are probably starting in most formats but who come with some level of risk.
- Feeling Lucky: Pitchers available in less than 25% of leagues that are risky but viable in deeper formats.
- Desperate Measures: Pitchers you shouldn’t use unless you have no choice.
These projected two-start pitchers are subject to change and will throughout the season.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Week 18
Must Start
- Corbin Burnes (SP – BAL) vs. TOR, at CLE
- Luis Gil (SP – NYY) at PHI, vs. TOR
- Tanner Bibee (SP – CLE) at DET, vs. BAL
- Simeon Woods Richardson (SP, RP – MIN) at NYM, vs. CWS
- Logan Gilbert (SP – SEA) at BOS, vs. PHI
- Nathan Eovaldi (SP – TEX) at STL, vs. BOS
- Chris Sale (SP – ATL) at MIL, vs. MIA
- Zack Wheeler (SP – PHI) vs. NYY, at SEA
- Justin Steele (SP – CHC) at CIN, vs. STL
- Paul Skenes (SP – PIT) at HOU, vs. ARI
Should Start
Jack Flaherty (SP – DET) vs. CLE, vs. KC
Jack Flaherty is a must-start option, but he is likely to be traded this week and could lose that second start, which is why he is listed here.
Jameson Taillon (SP – CHC) at CIN, vs. STL
Jameson Taillon is also a must-start pitcher this week, but he is likely to be traded this week, too, and could also lose his second start, which is why he is listed here.
Michael Wacha (SP – KC) at CWS, at DET
When healthy, Michael Wacha has been great this season and the last three seasons. He is healthy right now and is facing two bad offenses that may sell off more pieces before his second start.
Here We Go
Cooper Criswell (SP, RP – BOS) vs. SEA, at TEX
Cooper Criswell has been up and down of late, but he bounced back in his last start and he is facing a bad offense in the Mariners — one that has been up and down as well.
Alec Marsh (SP, RP – KC) at CWS, at DET
Alec Marsh has struggled lately, but these two matchups are about as good as you can ask for considering they’re both terrible offenses that could get worse after the trade deadline.
Colin Rea (SP – MIL) vs. ATL, at WAS
Do I trust Colin Rea? Not really. He has pedestrian stuff, but he has made it work with great a defense behind him and a good pitch mix that has allowed him to induce a lot of weaker contact. He is facing two bottom-10 offenses in OPS vs. right-handed pitching, so he is a pretty easy stream.
Feeling Lucky
Cade Povich (SP – BAL) vs. TOR, at CLE
Cade Povich likely loses this second start and there is risk in the first part of the two-step.
Yariel Rodriguez (RP, SP – TOR) at BAL, at NYY
If you are looking for strikeouts, Yariel Rodriguez has a lot of value, even in two tough matchups. However, he likely won’t go deep enough for a win and there’s a chance he gets torched.
Griffin Canning (SP – LAA) vs. COL, vs. NYM
Griffin Canning is coming off a fantastic start versus the Mariners, but it is so hard to know what version of him you will get. He has a great beginning half of the two-step but a tougher second half. I would probably risk it in deeper leagues because the Rockies are so bad, but there is a fair amount of downside here.
Frankie Montas (SP, RP – CIN) vs. CHC, vs. SF
Frankie Montas has been pretty brutal this season, but these are great matchups versus two teams that likely are sellers at the deadline.
Andre Pallante (RP, SP – STL) vs. TEX, at CHC
Andre Pallante has quietly been very good this season. While the Rangers start is tougher, they have not been a powerhouse offense and the Cubs flat out are terrible offensively. I think the risk is worth the reward here.
Jordan Montgomery (SP – ARI) vs. WAS, at PIT
After a whole season of underperforming, Jordan Montgomery looked very good in his last start. He has a nice two-step here versus a young Washington team and a mediocre, at best, Pirates team.
Desperate Measures
- Mitchell Parker (SP – WAS) at ARI, vs. MIL
- Darius Vines (RP, SP – ATL) at MIL, vs. MIA
- Edward Cabrera (SP – MIA) at TB, at ATL
- Lance Lynn (SP – STL) vs. TEX, at CHC
- Ty Blach (RP, SP – COL) at LAA, at SD
