Hey friends, welcome to my weekly prospect report at FantasyPros. This column aims to give you the most fantasy-relevant prospect information throughout the last week in one place. The format of this weekly prospect report will be by level and we will go through players in order of their placing on my latest Top 150 prospect rankings (click here to view).

I won’t be hitting every prospect every week (though I basically did this week), but I will focus on the most relevant throughout the week and will follow up on other notable players post my Top 150 rankings. This article will not focus on any AAAA-type players or veterans in the minors who have outlived their prospect status.

  • Notes: Wood is hitting the crap out of the ball (95.1 average EV), but is striking out at a much higher rate against MLB pitching. When he does hit the ball, an over 60% groundball rate is way too high and reminds me of Jordan Walker.

• #63 David Festa (SP – MIN)

• • • Season: 14 1/3 IP | 18.2 K-BB%, 11.2 SwStr% | 8.16 ERA, 1.60 WHIP

    • Notes: Festa had a really nice piggyback start earlier in the week and I’m expecting him to either continue in this fashion or be put back into the rotation.

• #88 Hayden Birdsong (SP – SF)

• • • Season: 30 1/3 IP | 18.3 K-BB%, 14.8 SwStr% | 2.97 ERA, 1.22 WHIP
    • This Week: 11 IP (2 starts) | 20 Ks, 5 BBs | 1.64 ERA, 0.91 WHIP
    • Notes: Pounds the top of the zone with a 96-97 MPH fastball and has a beautiful curve that generates a lot of swinging strikes. He has a great pitch mix and gets whiffs on his three plus pitches (fastball, slider, curve).

• River Ryan (SP – LAD)

• • • Season (AAA): 16 1/3 IP | -4.5 K-BB%, 6.8 SwStr% | 0.00 ERA, 1.31 WHIP
    • This Week: 5 1/3 IP | 2 Ks, 3 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 1.31 WHIP
    • Notes: Ryan is better than his first start and he is starting Sunday (as of this writing). I expect some good things from Ryan moving forward. He has a big fastball and a really nice pitch mix.

AAA Hitters:

• #2 Junior Caminero (3B – TB)

• • • Season: .271/.330/.500 | 7.7 BB% / 22 K%| 18 XBH, 10 HR, 1 SB
    • This Week: 9/24 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Caminero is back and healthy, but has been striking out a lot this week. He might be trying to force his way up at this point.

• #8 Dylan Crews (OF – WAS)

    • This Week: 6/25 | 5 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Crews had a nice week of damage, despite a lower batting average with five of his six hits being XBH.

• #73 Jace Jung (2B/3B – DET)

• • • Season: .267/.390/.498 | 16.7 BB% / 23.1 K%| 35 XBH, 14 HR, 1 SB
    • This Week: 4/19 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: I compare Jung to Nolan Gorman and he’s striking out a little too much like Gorman right now as well with eight strikeouts this week.

• #75 Colby Thomas (OF – OAK)

• • • Season: .291/.371/.513 | 7.6 BB% / 26.5 K%| 16 XBH, 5 HR, 2 SB
    • This Week: 9/24 | 5 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Thomas has all-fields power and does a great job of shooting the ball through the gaps with a line-drive rate of over 35% this season. He has an open stance with hands up, loaded pre-pitch.

• #78 Jonatan Clase (OF – TOR)

• • • Season: .274/.373/.483 | 5.9 BB% / 29.4 K%| 25 XBH, 10 HR, 26 SB
    • This Week: 1/3 | 0 XBH, 0 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Clase was traded to the Blue Jays for Yimi Garcia, so this one is for the Jays fans.

• #121 Agustin Ramirez (C – MIA)

• • • Season (AAA): .224/.328/.364 | 11.2 BB% / 18.4 K%| 7 XBH, 4 HR, 5 SB (29 games)
    • This Week: 9/25 | 2 XBH, 0 HR, 1 SB
    • Notes: Ramirez has not been as good at AAA as he was at AA, but he just moved over to the Marlins in the Jazz Chisholm Jr. trade, so this one is for the Marlins fans.

• #95 Thomas Saggese (2B/3B – STL)

• • • Season: .250/.310/.424 | 6.1 BB% / 24 K%| 32 XBH, 12 HR, 7 SB
    • This Week: 7/21 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Saggese has turned it up this week. I didn’t think he had the wheels in him and it might be a coincidence, but he will need to cut down the K rate to get a call-up and the Cardinals might have to clear some room via trade.

• #120 Deyvison De Los Santos (OF – MIA)

• • • Season (AAA): .289/.338/.588 | 5.2 BB% / 22.9 K%| 30 XBH, 15 HR, 0 SB

    • Notes: De Los Santos already homered for the Marlins, so this one is also for the Marlins fans!

• Dillon Dingler (C – DET)

    • This Week: 10/20 | 7 XBH, 5 HR, 2 SB
    • Notes: Dingler was interesting as a potential Spring Training breakthrough and had just a ridiculous week as a potential Tigers call-up down the stretch.

AAA Pitchers:

• #93 Zebby Matthews (SP – MIN)

    • Notes: Matthews Had a nice K/BB rate this week, but did get hit up pretty bad in one of his starts.

AA Hitters:

• #19 Roman Anthony (OF – BOS)

• • • Season: .247/.350/.452 | 12.9 BB% / 26.1 K%| 32 XBH, 11 HR, 12 SB
    • This Week: 8/25 | 3 XBH, 0 HR, 4 SB
    • Notes: Anthony needs to work on lowering the K rate, but he’s been pretty electric so far this young season. He was also caught stealing a couple times as well.

• #20 Matt Shaw (SS/3B – CHI)

• • • Season: .256/.358/.438 | 12.5 BB% / 18.8 K%| 25 XBH, 12 HR, 22 SB
    • This Week: 7/25 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 2 SB
    • Notes: Shaw has continued to build up a decent season, slowly but surely.

• #43 Adael Amador (2B/SS – COL)

• • • Season: .202/.334/.315 | 15.2 BB% / 21.1 K%| 13 XBH, 7 HR, 25 SB
    • This Week: 9/26 | 3 XBH, 0 HR, 2 SB
    • Notes: Amador has been getting the batting average up a bit since June after a rough start to the season.

• #76 Dylan Beavers (OF – BAL)

• • • Season: .233/.322/.410 | 12.7 BB% / 24.3 K%| 28 XBH, 11 HR, 20 SB
    • This Week: 2/16 | 2 XBH, 2 HR, 2 SB
    • Notes: Big lefty outfielder who killed it in the doubles department last year and is not transitioning some of that into homerun power. There’s a potential 25/25 player here if he can hit enough to make it work. What a strange week; Beavers basically shows how toolsy he is, but with the lack of a killer hit tool.

• #96 Kevin Alcantara (OF – CHI)

• • • Season: .279/.336/.428 | 7.8 BB% / 25.4 K%| 22 XBH, 9 HR, 6 SB
    • This Week: 5/12 | 2 XBH, 1 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Alcantara had a decent week, though it was only four games.

• #99 Dalton Rushing (C – LAD)

    • This Week: 5/17 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Rushing is off to an improved start in 2024 vs. 2023 by making better contact.

• #112 Justin Crawford (OF – PHI)

    • Notes: Crawford had a nice first week in AA with 3 steals.

• Kristian Campbell (2B – BOS)

    • Notes: Campbell has been an absolute stud all season and should be rocketing up rankings.

• Luke Keaschall (2B – MIN)

    • This Week: 6/24 | 3 XBH, 3 HR, 1 SB
    • Notes: Keaschall had a really nice power week… including a FOURTH homer on Sunday.

• Henry Bolte (OF – OAK)

• • • Season: .247/.345/.356 | 11.9 BB% / 33.3 K%| 6 XBH, 1 HR, 8 SB (18 games)
    • This Week: 6/20 | 3 XBH, 0 HR, 2 SB
    • Notes: Bolte had his best week at AA transitioning from his excellent season in high A.

• Charles McAdoo (3B/OF – PIT)

    • This Week: 8/24 | 3 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB
    • Notes: McAdoo is doing the same thing he was before now at AA.

• Brice Matthews (SS – HOU)

    • This Week: 7/19 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 3 SB
    • Notes: Matthews had a killer week and has been hitting his way up my rankings lately despite a terrible strikeout rate.

• A.J. Vukovich (OF – ARI)

• • • Season: .266/.324/.434 | 7.8 BB% / 29.9 K%| 33 XBH, 10 HR, 5 SB
    • This Week: 7/22 | 4 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Vukovich has had a very good XBH season, though I would like to see better plate skills to move him up higher in my rankings.

AA Pitchers:

• #29 Noah Schultz (SP – CHW)

• • • Season: 34 2/3 IP | 23.2 K-BB%, 9.6 SwStr% | 1.82 ERA, 0.98 WHIP
    • This Week: 3 1/3 IP | 6 Ks, 2 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 1.50 WHIP
    • Notes: Schultz is dominating in the strikeout department, but a little like Misiorowski, he needs to reign in the control some to live his best life. We have some Glasnow-like skills here.

• #31 Tink Hence (SP – STL)

• • • Season: 56 1/3 IP | 26 K-BB%, 16.3 SwStr% | 3.20 ERA, 1.12 WHIP
    • This Week: 1 2/3 IP | 4 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.60 WHIP
    • Notes: Tink came back from injury and was throwing 99 MPH in a start where he was only expected to go two innings at most.

• #56 Rhett Lowder (SP – CIN)

• • • Season: 59 1/3 IP | 17.9 K-BB%, 12.4 SwStr% | 5.31 ERA, 1.38 WHIP
    • This Week: 6 IP | 6 Ks, 0 BBs | 0.00 ERA, 0.17 WHIP (1 hit)
    • Notes: Lowder has a 2.99 xFIP, so ignore the ERA.

• #61 Chase Petty (SP – CIN)

    • Notes: Petty seems to have had his best week of the season.

• #69 Chase Dollander (SP – COL)

    • Notes: Dollander had his first start in AA this week.

• #74 Caden Dana (SP – LAA)

    • Notes: Dana looks like old-school Thor on the mound with his Viking hair, 94-95 MPH fastball and power slider.

• #101 Carson Palmquist (SP – COL)

    • Notes: Palmquist has always carried some nice strikeout numbers and it’s interesting to think the Rockies organization might have Dollander, Sullivan and Palmquist in a couple of years.

• Gunnar Hoglund (Athletics):

    • Notes: Hoglund is finally healthy and pitching some serious innings, I bet he’s up at some point this season.

• Mason Barnett (SP – KC)

    • This Week: 6 IP | 8 Ks, 4 BBs | 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP
    • Notes: Barnett is a former third-rounder who had a solid season in high A and AA last year. He’s now on my radar as he has continued producing in 2024.

• Bubba Chandler (SP – PIT)

    • Notes: Chandler had a big K game this week, but then got hit up pretty badly.

• Logan Henderson (SP – MIL)

    • Notes: Henderson has been solid all season with another strong start.

    • Notes: Morabito has continued stealing even if he has fallen off a bit.

• Jack Brannigan (2B/3B – PIT)

    • This Week: 5/17 | 3 XBH, 2 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: Brannigan is repeating high A and the increased plate skills should get him bumped up to AA quickly.

• Andrew Pintar (OF – MIA)

    • This Week: 8/20 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB
    • Notes: Pintar has had an all-around strong season and could be a future Tommy Edman / Ben Zobrist type for the Diamondbacks.

• Jared Serna (SS – MIA)

    • This Week: 5/18 | 4 XBH, 1 HR, 1 SB
    • Notes: Serna was traded to the Marlins in the Jazz Chisholm trade, which was a pretty nice return for the Marlins.

A+ Pitchers:

• #81 Sean Sullivan (SP – COL)

• • • Season: 78 1/3 IP | 27.7 K-BB%, 16.8 SwStr% | 2.30 ERA, 0.86 WHIP
    • This Week: 5 IP | 10 Ks, 0 BBs| 0.00 ERA, 0.60 WHIP
    • Notes: Sullivan has been absolutely ridiculous this entire season, why isn’t he at AA with Dollander right now?

• Thomas White (SP – MIA)

• • • Season: 32 IP | 21.8 K-BB%, 16.4 SwStr% | 2.81 ERA, 1.16 WHIP
    • This Week: 5 IP | 4 Ks, 0 BBs | 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP
    • Notes: White keeps on rolling as he demonstrates he’s not just a Noble Meyer sidekick, but a pretty solid starter in his own right.

• Jackson Ferris (SP – LAD)

• • • Season: 90 1/3 IP | 19.5 K-BB%, 11.3 SwStr% | 3.69 ERA, 1.22 WHIP
    • This Week: 7 IP | 7 Ks, 2 BBs | 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP
    • Notes: Ferris was traded in the Michael Busch deal with Hope, so of course he’s playing well. He’s a big lefty at 20 years old and a former second-rounder.

• Kohl Drake (SP – TEX)

• • • Season: 26 1/3 IP | 27.9 K-BB%, 13.7 SwStr% | 3.42 ERA, 0.95 WHIP
    • This Week: 6 IP | 7 Ks, 2 BBs | 4.50 ERA, 0.67 WHIP
    • Notes: Drake has been very good this year and keeps on rolling.

• Jackson Baumeister (SP – TB)

    • Notes: Jaison, holy moly! 10 steal week!!!

• #144 Leodalis De Vries (SS – SD)

    • This Week: 10/25 | 6 XBH, 3 HR, 0 SB
    • Notes: De Vries has super-high upside across the board and is a five-tool talent, but at 17 years old, De Vries is way above his age-to-level.

• #145 Cooper Pratt (SS – MIL)

• • • Season: .295/.390/.391 | 12.1 BB% / 18.6 K%| 16 XBH, 3 HR, 25 SB
    • This Week: 7/23 | 1 XBH, 1 HR, 3 SB
    • Notes: Pratt has been pretty good and has been more speed than damage so far.

    • Notes: Suarez had another nice week and could be up in high A soon.

• Mavis Graves (SP – PHI)

    • Notes: Graves had another strong start and will be moving up the Phillies organization after they sold Klassen and Aldegheri.

• Gary Gill Hill (SP – TB)

    • Notes: Gill Hill has been one of the better starters in low A this season and might get a cup of coffee at high A soon, but is still only 19.

• Nestor Lorant (SP – CIN)

    • Notes: The dude throws 100. If he starts figuring it out, Lin is one to watch.
