Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Assistant Analyze Moves Who To Pick Up

Tim’s Top 5 Fantasy Baseball Waiver Adds (12 Team Leagues)

Last Week: SS Brooks Lee (Twins, 38%), SP David Festa (Twins, 19%), 2B/SS Luis Garcia Jr. (Nationals, 42%), C Gabriel Moreno (Diamondbacks, 41%), SP Spencer Arrighetti (Astros, 27%)

  1. OF Lars Nootbaar (Cardinals) 39%Lars Nootbaar is finally healthy again and has been hitting fifth in the lineup since returning, going 5/14 with a double and a homer.
  2. OF Rece Hinds (Reds) 37% – The terrible plates kills will almost definitely catch up with Hinds at some point, but he’s worth riding while he’s this hot with a 9/20 line, 3 homers, 2 steals and 7 extra base hits in five games since being promoted.
  3. SP Andrew Heaney (Rangers) 37% – I’ve been pumping Heaney as a solid back end rotation option most of the year, but he’s been even better since the beginning of June with a 22.1 K-BB% and 3.27 SIERA over seven starts in this time period.
  4. 2B Spencer Horwitz (Blue Jays) 28% – Horwitz has been a beast contact-wise since being called up with an 87% contact rate leading to a .319/.431/.495 slash line with 4 bombs in 30 games.
  5. SP Yilber Diaz (Diamondbacks) 16% – Diaz had a nice first start against a good Braves team. He’s a shorter fastball heavy guy who throws 96 with a slider and curve… the curve has some horizontal movement to it and could be effective against lefties, but the slider is the better secondary. He reminds me more of a reliever than a starter and has some Ryan Helsey to him, not necessarily in the mechanics, but more so in the stuff.

NOTE: Under 30% Owned (CBS)

Last Week: OF Garrett Mitchell (Brewers, 21%), 2B Spencer Horwitz (Blue Jays, 25%), C Bo Naylor (Guardians, 26%) OF Jose Siri (Rays, 17%), SP Hayden Birdsong (Giants, 13%)

  1. C Bo Naylor (Guardians) 27% – This is Naylor’s third consecutive week on this list for fifteen teamers. Bo Naylor is hitting .302/.356/.604 in his last 20 games with 3 homers and a steal. If you need a catcher, he’s worth grabbing.
  2. 1B / OF Hunter Renfroe (Royals) 6% – Renfroe is hitting .302/.377/.526 with 5 homers in 130 ABs since May 12th. He’s basically been the Royals underrated version of Joc Pederson this season.
  3. SP J.P. Sears (Athletics) 22%JP Sears has a 23.9 K-BB% and 3.09 SIERA over his last three starts against a few decent teams. If you need a deep league pitcher, you could do worse.
  4. OF Justyn-Henry Malloy (Tigers) 7% – Malloy is hitting .290/.371/.581 with 3 homers and a steal over the last two weeks. He might hae found his groove in the majors after a very strong 2023 in AAA.
  5. SP Hayden Birdsong (Giants) 12% – Birdsong has been on this list for three weeks in a row, because there aren’t many pitchers available in the deeper leagues and because I think he’s better than he’s shown thus far. Birdsong has had a couple rough starts at Atlanta and at Cleveland, so take his production with a grain of salt toward the positive. Birdsong has a 15 K-BB% in these last two starts with a 4.25 SIERA.
