We all know about the Josh Allens and Jalen Hurts of the world, but who can sneak into the scene and become a top quarterback to help elevate our fantasy team?
Let’s break down some QB2s in our fantasy football draft rankings and help explain how they can be the golden ticket to help you win your league in 2024. Here are seven fantasy football draft sleepers to target at the quarterback position.
Fantasy Football Sleepers: QBs With Top-5 Potential
Jared Goff is on this list because he missed the top five last season. He finished as the QB7. He has averaged 265.1 passing yards with 1.7 touchdowns over the previous two seasons. Goff also faces the seventh-easiest strength of schedule this year from the quarterback position. Finally, Goff starts the season with seven straight dome games and 14 dome games overall. Anyone who can eliminate the elements from their 2024 schedule gets an automatic leg up on their competition every week.
Last season, Jared Goff threw for the second-most yards in the NFL and the fourth-most touchdowns. Goff also produced the ninth-highest quarterback rating. He had an issue with accuracy, as he ranked 21st in catchable throw percentage, which is why he is so low in our expert consensus rankings (ECR). However, if any quarterback were to leap into the top five it would be a quarterback on a solid offense with an easy schedule like Goff.
Konami quarterbacks can elevate their fantasy floors with just their legs. Any passing stats we receive on top of that will become a bonus. Remember the year before his first MVP season when Lamar Jackson had average passing stats but still gave us 15+ fantasy points just because of his legs? We are staring down the barrel of that fantasy floor for Jayden Daniels.
Remember that Daniels brings a sound fundamental game, and his throws genuinely stem from the ground up. With Daniels receiving the key to the Washington car and weapons such as Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Luke McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, Brian Robinson and Ben Sinnott, Daniels can jumpstart his career.
Trevor Lawrence is disrespected with his ranking of 17th overall. From Week 11 last season, Lawrence was QB7 in fantasy points per game (PPG). He averaged 270.9 yards and 1.7 touchdowns. Now they have granted him flashy, fast rookie Brian Thomas Jr. and deep ball extraordinaire Gabe Davis. He still has Evan Engram and Travis Etienne while receiving a healthy Christian Kirk in 2024. He also creates some fantasy points on the ground.
Lawrence has a plethora of weapons to help elevate him back to the form he was in towards the end of 2023. If Lawrence is consistent, we could have a league-winning quarterback in Jacksonville
We may not like him as a human, but we only have to look at the on-field production in fantasy football. Deshaun Watson has a slew of weapons now, with the arrival of Jerry Jeudy to join Amari Cooper and David Njoku. These three will lead a charge in this Cleveland Browns offense to help them change from a run-centric offense to a more neutral passing game. As the 21st overall quarterback in our rankings, Watson is a risk, but no great team has ever won it all without risking it for the biscuit.
Geno Smith is another quarterback who has been at the top of his game. Two seasons ago, Smith was the QB5 overall. Last season, he slipped back to average, but his offense has changed with a new coaching scheme, and his weapons are an embarrassment of riches. Any quarterback who can throw to DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Kenneth Walker can make noise during the NFL season.
Will Levis fired onto the scene with four touchdown passes against the Atlanta Falcons. However, after that game, he struggled a bit to finish the season. The Tennesee Titans went into this offseason and decided to build around the young quarterback. The Titans added Calvin Ridley to a core that already included DeAndre Hopkins. They also added Tyler Boyd to the team and still have young and hopeful Treylon Burks in the wings. The Titans didn’t finish there, as they added Tony Pollard to join Tyjae Spears in the backfield. Combine all these weapons with an easy strength of schedule for Will Levis, and you have an opportunity to truly explode onto the scene this season.
There is nothing I can say about last year that will make you feel good about yourself drafting Bryce Young. Instead, we will need to write a story of a narrative that we will encounter in 2024. We have the Carolina Panthers signing a new coach in Dave Canales. Remember Geno Smith from earlier? Remember how we said he was a top-five quarterback last season? Want to take a swing at who his offensive coordinator was? That’s right, it was Dave Canales. Next, remember the resurgence of Baker Mayfield last year? Who was the puppeteer pulling the string of the quarterback? Once again, that was Dave Canales. Now, he has Bryce Young as his new project, and his hands may be full with this woeful offensive line, but the light is at the end of the tunnel.
The Panthers brought in Diontae Johnson, who is one of the best route-running wide receivers in the game. This addition will help with a receiving core last season that couldn’t separate from their defender. The Panthers didn’t finish there as they drafted Xavier Legette, a yards-after-catch (YAC) machine. They also drafted Jonathon Brooks to add to the backfield. Suddenly, Bryce Young has a new combination of players to help elevate him this season. Young also gets to face the second-easiest strength of schedule in the NFL. With the Panthers playing from behind in the majority of the games, Young should have plenty of passing attempts to help elevate your fantasy football team.
