PGA DFS Advice & Picks: Travelers Championship (2024)

It was a monumental rebound performance at last week’s US Open at Pinehurst. The Memorial crushed me, but I wiped my bloody lip and formulated one of the best player pools of the season. Bryson DeChambeau was my most heavily rostered player. Rory McIlroy was second-most. Forty percent of all of my lineups had both. Mic drop.

From the third major, we run right into another signature PGA Tour event in the Travelers Championship. McIlroy has withdrawn from the tournament stemming from his Shakespearean collapse and Irish goodbye on Sunday. Most of the rest of the Tour’s best are here at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut to angle toward another gigantic prize purse. The Travelers is a no-cut event featuring a bounty of birdies compared to the two events prior. Carnage will have to wait, we’re going pin-seeking again.

TPC River Highlands is a Pete Dye design that also draws back on the extensive course length at Muirfield Village and Pinehurst. At only 6,800 yards, the par-70 has tightened up considerably with longer rough than in recent years. The Bentgrass and Poa surfaces will feel syrupy by comparison as well. The best golfers off the tee and on approach will also need a hot putter to convert enough birdies to contend here. The difficulty with playing limited-field events in DFS is in finding leverage. Fortunately, plenty can be found in the middle and value tiers. This leaves fewer reasons to completely fade any top-tier golfers in this stacked field, regardless of projected rostership. With a steaming bowl of “chowdah” and a charred slice of “apizza,” let’s dig in.
