Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Hunter Brown (HOU) at TOR
Hunter Brown is on fire. According to FanGraphs, in his previous five starts spanning 30.1 innings, Brown has had a 1.16 ERA, 3.01 xFIP, 3.01 SIERA, 0.94 WHIP, 6.7 BB%, 30.0 K%, 30.3 CSW%, 106 Stuff+, 104 Location+ and 105 Pitching+. Brown has spun seven consecutive quality starts, striking out at least six batters in six straight turns.
Brown has a midpack matchup and adequate betting info today. The Blue Jays are 13th in wRC+ (101) with a 19.8 K% versus righties and tied for 15th in wRC+ (103) with a 20.6 K% at home this season. Toronto was tied for fifth in wRC+ (131) with a 23.6 K% in the previous 14 days, so they aren't a pushover. Still, the Astros are -145, and the game's total is 8.5 runs.
David Peterson (NYM) at WAS
MacKenzie Gore is the second-best pitcher on the slate. However, the Mets are a dreadful matchup for the young lefty. David Peterson has a much easier matchup. The Nationals are 28th in wRC+ (81) with a 21.9 K% versus lefties and 25th in wRC+ (91) with a 19.9 K% at home. Washington was also 18th in wRC+ (104) with a 16.6 K% in the previous 14 days.
Peterson had a 3.68 ERA in his past four starts, totaling 22.0 innings. Sadly, he also had a 4.91 xFIP and 4.89 SIERA. Thus, the other shoe could drop. The Mets are -112, and the game's total is 8.5 runs. Therefore, the betting info is rock-solid, supporting using Peterson on the tiny slate. Alternatively, using Brown and a reliever as the SP2 as a contrarian GPP move at DK is not unreasonable.
Dedniel Nunez is an intriguing option. In 14 relief appearances spanning 23.1 innings, Nunez has had a 2.31 ERA, 2.23 xERA, 2.06 SIERA, 0.86 WHIP, 4.5 BB%, 34.1 K%, 31.4 CSW%, 122 Stuff+, 104 Location+ and 110 Pitching+. Nunez has pitched at least two innings in four of his last five appearances.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
Milwaukee's offense has a double-dose of good news today, playing at Coors Field and facing Austin Gomber. Coors Field is MLB's most hitter-friendly venue, and Gomber is a punching bag. In Gomber's last five starts, he's had a 9.39 ERA, 5.21 xFIP, 5.13 SIERA, 1.83 WHIP and allowed 1.96 HR/9. The veteran lefty has allowed a .322 wOBA to 68 lefties and a .331 wOBA to righties this year. Finally, Colorado's relievers have the highest ERA (5.86) this season.

William Contreras: 2.0 Total Bases - Higher
Contreras has hit 19 doubles, one triple and nine homers with a .291 batting average, .436 slugging and .145 ISO in 364 plate appearances this year. As a right-handed hitter, he'll have park factors of 1.160 for singles, 1.380 for doubles, 1.940 for triples and 1.323 for homers at Coors Field. Furthermore, Gomber has allowed 12 doubles, one triple, nine homers, a .267 batting average and .430 slugging to 275 righties this season. Thus, we project Contreras to have 2.35 total bases today.
