Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Cole Ragans (KC) at OAK
Cole Ragans is validating his 2023 breakout and entering tonight's contest in a groove. According to FanGraphs, in his previous five starts spanning 30.0 innings, he's had a 2.10 ERA, 2.93 xFIP, 2.86 SIERA, 1.03 WHIP, 6.7 BB%, 31.9 K%, 28.5 CSW%, 105 Stuff+, 100 Location+ and 105 Pitching+.
Oakland should be a speed bump for Ragans tonight. This year, the Athletics are 18th in wRC+ (96) with a 24.8 K% versus lefties and 14th in wRC+ (103) with a 24.3 K% at home. In the past 14 days, the A's were 28th in wRC+ (71) with a 27.4 K%. The Royals should handle the slumping A's. As a result, Kansas City is -175, and the game's total is 7.5 runs.
Hunter Brown (HOU) at CWS
After starting 2024 as cold as possible, Hunter Brown has turned up the heat to a blistering level. In his past five starts totaling 31.0 innings, he's had a 1.74 ERA, 2.96 xFIP, 2.88 SIERA, 0.84 WHIP, 6.8 BB%, 29.7 K%, 30.3 CSW%, 104 Stuff+, 102 Location+ and 104 Pitching+. In addition, each turn during that period was a quality start, and he's struck out at least seven batters in his past four opportunities.
Brown has a cupcake to feast on tonight. Chicago is 30th in wRC+ (77) with a 23.6 K% versus righties and 30th in wRC+ (78) with a 22.2 K% at home. The White Sox were 13th in wRC+ (107) with a 24.6 K% in the previous 14 days. Nevertheless, the more extensive body of work was literally basement caliber. Thus, Houston is -120, even with Garrett Crochet on the hill for the White Sox, and the game's total is a tiny 7.5 runs.
Kevin Gausman (TOR) vs. BOS
Kevin Gausman has a nice blend of upside and an affordable salary, making him a stellar GPP pick. In his last five starts spanning 32.2 innings, he's had a 3.03 ERA, 3.22 xFIP, 3.27 SIERA, 0.95 WHIP, 4.0 BB%, 25.6 K%, 23.9 CSW%, albeit with a 12.1 SwStr%, 91 Stuff+, 101 Location+ and 101 Pitching+.
The Red Sox are a formidable opponent. Still, they have a high strikeout rate, enhancing Gausman's ceiling. Boston has had a 23.9 K% versus righties and a 24.8 K% on the road. They've also had a 24.6 K% in the previous 14 days. The Blue Jays are -135, and the game's total is 8.5 runs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Dodgers had a sluggish start to their first game of the series at Coors Field, scoring four runs through eight innings. Then, they erupted for seven in the ninth, finishing with an eye-popping 11 runs. They can maintain their momentum tonight in a plus matchup.
In Ryan Feltner's past five games, he's had a 5.74 ERA, 3.50 xFIP, 3.71 SIERA, 1.39 WHIP and coughed up 2.03 HR/9. This year, he's ceded a .389 wOBA to 171 lefties and a .314 wOBA to 161 righties. Thus, LA's left-handed batters are the most enticing stacking options.
- Road (Globe Life Field)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 9.0 Runs/NYM -110
The Mets hammer lefties, smash on the road and have been white-hot. This year, they're tied for fifth in wRC+ (119) versus lefties and first in wRC+ (123) on the road. They were also first in wRC+ (149) in the previous 14 days. Moreover, eight of their projected starters have had at least a 108 wRC+ against lefties since 2022, and five have had at least a 120 wRC+. Andrew Heaney is an approximately average pitcher, so gamers shouldn't be dissuaded from stacking the sizzling Mets.

Shohei Ohtani: 13.0 Fantasy Points - Higher (Underdog)
Shohei Ohtani: 12.5 Fantasy Points - More (PrizePicks)
In addition to Ohtani's excellent numbers this year, he's hammered righties. Since 2022, he's had a .403 OBP, .332 ISO and 181 wRC+ against righties. Freddie Freeman: 9.5 Fantasy Points - Higher/More
