Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Bryce Miller (SEA) vs. CWS
Bryce Miller is a stud at home. According to FanGraphs, in 116.1 innings at home since reaching the majors last year, Miller has had a 3.09 ERA, 3.95 xFIP, 1.01 WHIP, 6.1 BB% and 25.4 K%.
He has a cushy matchup and excellent betting info tonight. This season, the White Sox are 29th in wRC+ (79) with a 23.5 K% versus righties and 29th in wRC+ (78) with a 25.1 K% on the road. In the last 14 days, Chicago was 18th in wRC+ (97) with a 24.7 K%. So, the Mariners are -240, and the game's total is 7.5 runs.
Nick Pivetta (BOS) vs. PHI
Nick Pivetta is rolling. In his previous five starts spanning 27.1 innings, he's had a 3.29 ERA, 2.70 xFIP, 2.55 SIERA, 0.84 WHIP, 6.7 BB%, 35.6 K%, 31.0 CSW%, 144 Stuff+ 108 Location+ and 115 Pitching+. He's struck out at least eight batters while allowing two runs or fewer in four of those turns, including his past two, both at home.
Pivetta has a challenging matchup against a top-10 offense against righties and on the road. However, the Phillies were tied for 16th in wRC+ (98) with a 21.1 K% in the previous 14 days. While the Red Sox are +100, and the game's total of 8.5 runs is slightly alarming, Pivetta's upside is immense and tailor-made for GPPs.
Jose Soriano (LAA) at ARI
Jose Soriano isn't an exciting DFS option. Nevertheless, he's a palatable SP2 at an affordable salary on DK. In his previous five starts spanning 31.0 innings, Soriano has had a 2.90 ERA, 3.71 xFIP, 3.91 SIERA, 1.06 WHIP, 7.3 BB%, 18.7 K%, 24.4 CSW%, 99 Stuff+, 97 Location+ and 100 Pitching+. The righty has been somewhat lucky, but he's pitched adequately.
Soriano's matchup, like his stats, is decent. Arizona is 21st in wRC+ (94) with a 21.7 K% versus righties and tied for 12th in wRC+ (102) with a 19.7 K% at home. The Angels are slight underdogs (+122), and the game's total is a somewhat troubling 9.0 runs. Still, Soriano is the most appealing affordable SP2 at DK. He's an unappealing choice at FD.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
Righty Dan Altavilla is opening for lefty Daniel Lynch, who will be the bulk reliever. The former is a punching bag reliever, and the latter is a below-average starter being shielded from the top of New York's lineup by working in relief. Since Lynch is projected to handle most of the innings for the Royals, New York's 106 wRC+ (tied for 11th) versus lefties this year is noteworthy. The Yankees are also tied for first in wRC+ (119) on the road. They're a juggernaut.
The Mets didn't make the most of a matchup against a lefty last night. Nevertheless, they face another tonight and have smashed southpaws this year. New York is third in wRC+ (121) versus lefties this season. Eight of their projected starters have had at least a 105 wRC+ against lefties since 2022, six have had at least a 119 wRC+ and four have had at least a 132 wRC+. Finally, many of New York's projected starters have succeeded against Braxton Garrett, albeit on small samples.
Core Studs
- Aaron Judge is playing out of his mind. In 303 plate appearances this year, he's hit 25 homers with a .437 OBP, .403 ISO and 217 wRC+.
- In 430 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Pete Alonso has hit 26 homers with a .347 OBP, .270 ISO and 133 wRC+.
- Since 2022, Starling Marte has had a .358 OBP, .155 ISO and 132 wRC+ against lefties.
Value Plays/Punts
- Mark Vientos is amidst a breakout. In 84 plate appearances for the Mets this season, he has a .381 OBP, .267 ISO and 176 wRC+.
- In 320 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, J.D. Martinez has hit 16 homers with a .381 OBP, .278 ISO and 162 wRC+.
- In 338 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Gleyber Torres has hit 19 homers with a .329 OBP, .236 ISO and 131 wRC+.

Mark Vientos: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher (Scorcher 1.25x)(Underdog)
Mark Vientos: 1.5 Total Bases - More (Demon Multiplier) (PrizePicks)
Vientos is the first holdover from the DFS selections. In addition to his excellent number this year, Vientos has hammered lefties. In 154 plate appearances against lefties since 2022, Vientos has hit nine doubles, one triple and six homers with a .262 batting average, .468 slugging and .206 ISO.
The Red Sox have an eye-popping 29.0 K% against lefties this year. However, in the last 14 days, they've had a palatable 24.8 K%. Also, Cristopher Sanchez might not be equipped to exploit Boston's punchout problem. In six starts on the road spanning 29.1 innings this year, Sanchez has struck out 19 batters at a 13.9 K% and 5.83 K/9. He exceeded 5.5 strikeouts only once on the road this year, with an average of 3.8 and a median of three. Thus, Sanchez is on the PrizePicks Cheat Sheet and the Underdog Cheat Sheet with a projection of 4.4 strikeouts.
Aaron Judge: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher (0.75x)(Underdog)
Aaron Judge: 1.5 Total Bases - More (PrizePicks)
Judge has been an unstoppable force lately. In 120 plate appearances in the past month, Judge has hit 11 doubles, one triple and 16 homers with a .436 batting average, 1.085 slugging and .649 ISO. He's cleared 1.5 total bases in four straight games and 10 of the previous 11 contests.
