Below, we look at the best fantasy football draft values in NFFC leagues based on Average Draft Position (ADP) over the past month.
Fantasy Football Draft Values on NFFC
Quarterback concerns are likely to blame for wide receiver Davante Adams dropping to No. 20 overall in NFFC drafts over the past month. While the competition in Las Vegas between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell looks ugly on paper, that tumble might be an overreaction by NFFC drafters.
Despite being a rookie thrust into an unexpected starting role, O’Connell didn’t completely tank Adams’ fantasy stock last season. He boosted it! In 11 contests with O’Connell under center, Adams averaged 15.88 points on 11.18 targets per game. That’s an improvement on the 15.19 points per game Adams averaged in six games with Jimmy Garoppolo.
On the Minshew side, he had zero issues feeding Colts WR1 Michael Pittman Jr. a boatload of targets last season. Pittman Jr. had career-highs in receptions (109), receiving yards (1,152) and targets (156), finishing with 16.51 points per game in Minshew’s 15 starts. Adams is older than most players in his range, but he’s shown zero signs of slowing down and has been QB-proof throughout his career.
The uncertainty surrounding 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has created a buyer’s market in current NFFC drafts. Aiyuk is currently away from offseason activities and is seeking a long-term contract extension with San Francisco or elsewhere.
The 49ers seem intent on keeping Aiyuk, so a resolution is expected to happen sometime before the regular season. The scenarios in play:
- Pay Aiyuk; Run it back.
- Trade Deebo Samuel, freeing up money/targets for Aiyuk.
- Trade Aiyuk; He’s a team’s WR1 elsewhere.
Assuming he isn’t traded to a horrific offense with bad QB play, none of these should hurt Aiyuk’s stock.
While that uncertainty scares others away, you should see this as an opportunity to acquire a great player at a discounted price. Aiyuk finished last season as the overall WR14 (WR 15 in PPG) and is currently being drafted 10 spots lower on NFFC than his spot in our Expert Consensus Rankings (ECR).
After finishing as the WR13 and WR8 in his first two seasons, Miami wide receiver Jaylen Waddle had a disappointing third season. Waddle’s career lows in receptions (72), receiving yards (1,014) and touchdowns (four) resulted in a WR34 finish in PPR scoring.
While I understand the concerns about his drop-off, recency bias has probably gone too far, pushing Waddle down to the WR20 in NFFC drafts over the past month. Waddle started 14 regular-season games in 2023, but playing through multiple injuries severely impacted his on-field performance. Now fully healthy, Waddle is likelier to return to his 2022 production than repeat as a WR3.
One year after finishing as QB3 in points per game (minimum six starts) and winning his second MVP award, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson is being overlooked in current NFFC drafts. The QB hierarchy might differ across the industry, but Jackson typically joins Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts and C.J. Stroud as the top-five fantasy football quarterbacks.
Allen (22.33 ADP) is the clear QB1 with Hurts (32.19), Mahomes (34.48) and Stroud (37.95) going in the same range. Order them however you please but it’s hard to justify Jackson (44.14 ADP) falling a full tier below the other four. Buy the dip.
