Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Wilmer Flores, Connor Norby, Tyler Kinley, Tobias Myers

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Wilmer Flores, Connor Norby, Tyler Kinley, Tobias Myers

The best players in the world play on NFBC and the most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their fantasy baseball free agent and FAAB pickups on Sunday night.

Each week, I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 12

Wilmer Flores (1B, 3B, DH – SF)

Wilmer Flores was a popular pickup due to the massive weekend where he hit three home runs throughout two games versus the Rangers. He was picked up in 32 leagues with a max bid of $38 and a minimum bid of $1. He is playing every day with LaMonte Wade Jr. out and is eligible at first base and third, which has value, but he is best suited for deeper formats due to the lack of upside.

Connor Norby (2B, OF – BAL)

Connor Norby was another prospect who made his debut this week. I was honestly a little surprised he was only picked up in 25 leagues. His max bid was just $53 and his minimum bid was $1. Norby is a top-100 prospect. While there has been some fanfare around his arrival, he profiles as an accumulator who needs full-time at-bats. He has them right now with Jorge Mateo on the injured list (IL) with a concussion. If Norby doesn’t hit he will likely get sent back down.

Tyler Kinley (RP – COL)

Oh, look, another Rockies closing option. Tyler Kinley was picked up in 29 leagues with a max bid of $45 and a minimum bid of $1. Kinley seems to be the main closer right now, but if you go back and look at my last two articles in this series you will see me say the same thing about Jalen Beeks previously. In a few weeks, I will likely be talking about someone else.

Tobias Myers (SP – MIL)

Tobias Myers was picked up in 30 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $37 and a minimum bid of $1. Myers is a pitching prospect for the Brewers who has been pretty good this season, throwing 34.2 innings with a 4.15 ERA and 32 strikeouts. He doesn’t necessarily have overwhelming stuff, but he has a complete arsenal and good control. His command will be the big thing for him. If he can limit the home runs, then he will be valuable. If he cannot limit the homers, then he will not be in the rotation long. He faces the Blue Jays next, who have struggled offensively. He then has a two-start week versus the Angels and the Padres.
