The best players in the world play on NFBC and the most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their fantasy baseball free agent and FAAB pickups on Sunday night.
Each week, I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 12
Jack Suwinski (OF – PIT)
Jack Suwinski was picked up in 47 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $30 and a minimum bid of $1. Suwinski had struggled early in the season leading to a demotion, however, he made a change to his hand positioning while in the minors that allowed him to get into the zone quicker with his swing. If this is a sustainable change for him, it might be great for his ability to make more consistent contact.
Cade Povich (SP – BAL)
Cade Povich was picked up in 46 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $189 and a minimum bid of $3. Povich was the big pickup of the week after debuting for the Orioles. He is a top-100 prospect. While he struggled in his Major League debut, he showed great stuff despite struggles with command and control. If he can improve upon that, there is a lot of win potential and a great park to protect him in Baltimore.
Spencer Horwitz (1B, DH – TOR)
Spencer Horwitz was another call-up this week that got people excited for fantasy. He was picked up in 40 leagues with a max bid of $72 and a minimum bid of $1. Horwitz doesn’t have a ton of power, but he does walk a ton and his on-base skills could have him high up in the lineup sooner rather than later.
Justyn-Henry Malloy (3B, OF – DET)
Justyn-Henry Malloy was another call-up this week that got people excited. Malloy is playing regularly in Detroit, but while he has a ton of power and the ability to walk, he struggles defensively and with contact. If Malloy can make consistent contact, then he could be really valuable for fantasy, but if he can’t, he will be back in the minors.
