Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Rankings & Waiver Pickups (Week 15)

You should be grinding two-start pitchers to give you an advantage over your competition during the season.

Each week, I will give you a breakdown of the two-start options for your fantasy leagues broken up into the following tiers:

  • Must Start: Pitchers you have to start because of their talent/matchups.
  • Should Start: Pitchers rostered in most formats and who should probably be in your lineup.
  • Here We Go: Pitchers you are probably starting in most formats but who come with some level of risk.
  • Feeling Lucky: Pitchers available in less than 25% of leagues that are risky but viable in deeper formats.
  • Desperate Measures: Pitchers you shouldn’t use unless you have no choice.

These projected two-start pitchers are subject to change and will throughout the season.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers: Week 15

Must Start

Should Start

Simeon Woods Richardson (SP, RP – MIN) vs. DET, vs. HOU

Simeon Woods Richardson has been fantastic this season, throwing 66 innings with a 3.41 ERA and 56 strikeouts. He has a nice start to begin the week versus the Tigers and a tougher one versus the Astros, but you are using him in most formats.

Hunter Brown (SP – HOU) at TOR, at MIN

Hunter Brown struggled to start the season. Since the beginning of May, though, he has been fantastic, throwing 57 innings with a 2.20 ERA and 65 strikeouts. He has a matchup versus a disappointing Blue Jays offense and a good Twins one. With how well he has pitched recently, you are using him.

David Peterson (SP, RP – NYM) at WAS, at PIT

David Peterson has been great since coming off the injured list (IL), throwing 27 innings over five starts with a 3.67 ERA and 20 strikeouts. The stuff has been good even if the underlying numbers suggest regression. These are two matchups he should be able to continue his recent success against as the Nationals and Pirates are mediocre offenses, at best.

2024 Fantasy Baseball Probable Pitchers Two Start Pitchers

Here We Go

Jordan Hicks (RP, SP – SF) at ATL, at CLE

Jordan Hicks has been pretty good overall this season, but the reason he is not higher is he has been struggling lately. He faces two tough opponents as well, which makes this one a bit more risky.

Brady Singer (SP – KC) vs. TB, at COL

Brady Singer has been good as well this season, but the underlying numbers scream for regression. He is sporting a low batting average on balls in play (BABIP) and while the walks and homers haven’t been an issue, he has allowed a lot of hard contact. He gets a bad Rays offense and a bad Rockies offense, but the latter is in Colorado, which is a difficult place to pitch.

Gavin Williams (SP – CLE) vs. CWS, vs. SF

Gavin Williams is making his season debut after missing the first half of the season with elbow trouble. Normally, I bench guys coming off the IL, but this two-start week is about as good as they come versus bad White Sox and Giants offenses. The matchups are worth the risk.

Feeling Lucky

Zack Littell (SP, RP – TB) at KC, at TEX

Zack Littell has been up and down all season, throwing 86.1 innings with a 4.17 ERA and 82 strikeouts. He doesn’t have a ton of upside, but he is also a pretty safe pitcher for the most part. However, these are tougher matchups this week, so I would likely steer away from them.

Mitch Spence (RP, SP – OAK) vs. LAA, vs. BAL

Mitch Spence had been pitching well before his last three outings when the regression hit pretty hard. He has a really good matchup against the Angels and a really tough one versus the Orioles, but both are at home in Oakland Coliseum, which is a great place to pitch.

Spencer Arrighetti (SP – HOU) at TOR, at MIN

Spencer Arrighetti has been up and down all season. He is coming off the best start of his career, but he is also just two starts removed from his worst. These aren’t terrible matchups but they aren’t great either. There is a lot of upside and downside to Arrighetti.
