Fantasy Baseball Pitcher Rankings: Week 13 (2024)

Welcome to the FantasyPros Week 13 starting pitcher rankings for 2024. On Fridays, we view the upcoming week and rank starting pitchers based on their talent and the team they play against. These rankings are for Monday, June 17, through Sunday, June 23.

These rankings use expert consensus rankings (ECR) as a starting point. Matchup information is found on the helpful Pitcher Planner’s resource for probable pitchers.

As usual, remember that some starts are projected over a week in advance. Dates can change due to rain, injuries, or anything else. Two-start weeks pitchers often end up as one-start weeks.

Sometimes it is best to treat a second start as a pleasant surprise rather than an expectation, especially due to rain. Be sure to check the Pitcher Planner later on for more up-to-date information.

Top 50 Starting Pitcher Rankings: Week 13

Best Matchups

  • Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD) is living up to expectations. The blockbuster free agent is cruising after some struggles upon coming to the majors. His strikeout rate has increased and he has at least seven strikeouts in his four most recent starts. The rookie should continue his excellent performance in a contest facing the Angels.
  • Garrett Crochet (CWS) was criminally underrated in my previous rankings. The White Sox ace has been utterly ridiculous. He tossed a season-high 13 strikeouts in seven innings in Seattle on June 13. Crochet has already earned 10+ strikeouts in five starts this year. He has 103 strikeouts over 82.2 innings and an incredible 3.16 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. The red-hot starter should fare well against Houston.
  • Paul Skenes (PIT), who was pitching for the LSU Tigers under a year ago, has been so impressive in the majors. Fantasy managers should look forward to his possible two-start week at home against Cincinnati and Tampa Bay and see what more the rookie has to offer.

Unfavorable Matchups

  • Seth Lugo (KC) currently suffers from a cold streak. He has allowed a combined nine runs to the Yankees and Guardians in his two starts so far this month. These things happen, and there is not much reason to worry – Lugo faced some of the toughest teams in baseball. Unfortunately, he carries negative momentum into his start against the Rangers, the reigning World Series champions.
  • Bryan Woo (SEA) has a 1.07 ERA and 0.53 WHIP. It is insanity. He should dominate against Miami if he is healthy. Health is an uncertainty. The Mariners management has revealed extreme concern regarding Woo, subjecting the youngster to multiple MRIs this season. He was scratched from his latest appearance due to further health concerns. Woo missed the first six weeks of the season due to an arm issue that appears to be lingering. Fantasy managers should go forward with extreme caution and perhaps try to trade Woo away.
  • Nick Pivetta (BOS) either has it or doesn’t. He performed well against Atlanta, firing seven shutout innings. He did not quite have it against Philadelphia, allowing four runs in just as many innings. Pivetta has dominated in one game and imploded in the next throughout the season, with seemingly no rhyme or reason. Although he will face easier opponents in Toronto and Cincinnati, fantasy managers must remain vigilant of both sides of the hot-and-cold pitcher.
  • Justin Verlander (HOU) has had a storied career. The 41-year-old veteran has been good this year, yet he has done nothing astonishing, as he struggles to get into a groove. Verlander is on the tail end of bad starts versus the Angels and Cardinals. Fantasy managers should probably sit him against the explosive Baltimore offense.

Top 50 Pitchers (6/17 – 6/23)

*It is possible that Gerrit Cole and Bobby Miller will be activated in Week 13. Both are exempt from this list because their returns are not confirmed. Cole and Miller are top pitchers when healthy.*
