Dynasty Trade Advice: Khalil Shakir, Tyreek Hill, DeMario Douglas, Aaron Rodgers

Several factors go into building a consistently elite dynasty fantasy football team. One of those is identifying the top player on every NFL team. Another is knowing which players you should trade away before their fantasy value decreases. All of this boils down to your dynasty trade strategy.

Typically, the starting quarterback is the top dynasty asset on every NFL team in superflex leagues. However, they are rarely the top asset in 1QB leagues. To help you build the best dynasty fantasy football team possible, I will identify the top dynasty asset and sell candidates for every NFL team.

Today, I break down the AFC East teams. Here’s my dynasty trade advice for the AFC East, including the top dynasty asset on each team as well as a dynasty player to trade now.

2024 FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT KIT

Dynasty Trade Advice: AFC East

Khalil Shakir (WR – BUF)

Some in the fantasy football community believe Khalil Shakir could become a star this upcoming season. However, the Bills clearly think differently after signing Curtis Samuel to a significant contract and spending their top draft pick on Keon Coleman. The third-year receiver had a 15% target per route run rate in 2023 (per Fantasy Points Data), ranking ninth on the team, including behind Damien Harris. While Shakir should be a solid Flex option during bye weeks, see if a league mate is willing to part with a second-round pick for him.

Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA)

While Tyreek Hill likely has another WR1 finish in 2024, his fantasy value will never be higher. The superstar was the WR2 last year, averaging 19.8 half-PPR fantasy points per game. He scored 20.3+ fantasy points in 75% of the games before getting hurt in Week 14. Unfortunately, Hill is on the wrong side of 30, dealt with injuries late last season and is due for regression with Jaylen Waddle healthy. Furthermore, the future Hall of Famer said he will retire after the 2025 season.

DeMario Douglas (WR – NE)

The Patriots lack a clear-cut sell candidate for fantasy players. However, I would happily trade away DeMario Douglas for a future third-round rookie pick. New England re-signed Kendrick Bourne, added K.J. Osborn and spent two of their first five draft picks on wide receivers. Douglas had some solid moments as a rookie after Bourne suffered a torn ACL. Yet, the former Liberty receiver scored double-digit fantasy points once only in 2023. It’s more likely Douglas won’t make the final roster in August than he turns into a fantasy-relevant receiver.

Aaron Rodgers (QB – NYJ)

New York has two elite fantasy assets — Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson. Meanwhile, the rest of the Jets’ offense lacks meaningful fantasy value in a 1-QB league or is a rookie. Yet, fantasy players should explore the trade market for Rodgers. The future Hall of Famer is coming off a torn Achilles. However, he was a top-nine quarterback every year from 2018 through 2021. The team significantly improved its offensive line and receiving core this offseason. Hopefully, Rodgers starts the season playing well, creating a sell-high window for fantasy players.
