5 Dynasty Draft Values: Running Backs (2024 Fantasy Football)

Startups. Startups. Startups. It is dynasty startup SZN! I know we all return to redraft in the summer months and the best ball streets are all blazing, but this is also the time for dynasty startups. Before you enter another dynasty fantasy football startup, read up on my top five dynasty draft values at running back and run a handful of startup mock drafts with our draft simulator.

2024 FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT KIT

Dynasty Draft Values: Running Backs

Joe Mixon (RB – HOU) | ADP: RB19, 95.2 Overall

Joe Mixon should be Houston’s workhorse rusher for the next two years. Last year, he proved again he can be a wondrous volume runner as the RB11 in fantasy points per game. He was fifth in carries, 13th in targets, third in opportunity share and seventh in weighted opportunities. I don’t see any reason, assuming he can stay healthy, that he can’t reproduce those numbers for the Texans. If you’re playing in a two-year window in dynasty, Mixon looks like an undervalued RB1 that should be scooped up in startups.

Brian Robinson (RB – WAS) | ADP: RB31, 125.5 Overall

Brian Robinson should be drafted as an RB2 in startups. He’s young and has an offensive coordinator that should run the ever-loving hell out of the ball in 2024. Robinson should be the favorite for goal-line work, which is amazing considering Kliff Kingsbury’s history. In 2020, Kenyan Drake ranked fourth in rushing attempts inside the five-yard line. In the following season, James Conner was eighth in the same statistical category. Add in that last year, Robinson was 22nd in explosive run rate, 13th in yards after contact per attempt and fifth in yards per route run. Robinson is going too late in startups. Enjoy the value.

MarShawn Lloyd (RB – GB) | ADP: RB36, 138.2 Overall

My love for MarShawn Lloyd hasn’t dissipated with his landing in Green Bay. I’m not worried about Josh Jacobs, who could be out the door if he doesn’t bounce back in 2024. Next year, after June 1, Green Bay can cut Jacobs and save $8.2 million against the cap. Lloyd is the truth and the future of this backfield. The Packers’ coaching staff has already talked up his passing game role, so we know they love him running routes, but they will also fall in love with his ability on early downs. Since 2022, among 242 qualifying collegiate rushers, Lloyd ranked ninth in missed tackles forced per attempt and 24th in yards after contact per attempt. Dynasty doesn’t have to be difficult. Just draft immensely talented players like Lloyd and profit.

Jerome Ford (RB – CLE) | ADP: RB39, 144 Overall

Jerome Ford could lead Cleveland’s backfield in touches again in 2024, and it’s like no one cares. Last year, he was the RB25 in fantasy points per game, but to be honest, that is selling him short. When he was the team’s starter, he averaged 66.6 total yards as the RB20 in fantasy. Ford was exceptional on a per-touch basis, ranking 13th in missed tackles forced per attempt and 16th in yards after contact per attempt. If Nick Chubb can’t recover from last year’s injury, Ford could be the team’s starting tailback for the next two seasons (unrestricted free agent in 2026). He’s free money in startups.

Devin Singletary (RB – NYG) | ADP: RB41, 148.5 Overall

Wow, the dynasty community must really hate Devin Singletary, or maybe this is because they can’t stand the Giants. It has to be one or the other because nothing else makes sense. Singletary walks into 2024 as the team’s unquestioned starter, carrying an RB4 price tag in dynasty startups. Assuming health, Singletary should be the team’s starter for the next two years. Last year, he produced again as a starter as the RB21 in fantasy points per game, averaging 86.6 total yards as Houston’s starter. He was efficient with his touches, ranking 22nd in missed tackles forced per attempt and 20th in explosive run rate. Singletary should continue to churn out RB2 stat lines for pennies for dynasty managers.
