Thursday’s NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions: Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Anthony Edwards (5/16)

Thursday’s NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions: Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Anthony Edwards (5/16)

Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.

NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (5/16)

Nikola Jokic (C – DEN): 0.5 double doubles

Jokic double double was still on the board overnight for the first time all postseason. Jokic was second in double doubles this season and has recorded a double double in three of the five games in this series and in seven of his 10 postseason contests overall. Despite a full complement of minutes, Jokic has grabbed just seven rebounds in each of his last two games. He managed a double double in Game 5, thanks to 13 assists, but two straight games under 10 rebounds is the only reason this total is still on the board. That said, this is and was one of our favorite plays when available. Jokic will need to be more aggressive on the glass to hit double figures but should not be lacking motivation to do just that in a close out game. Jab the More on Jokic for Game 6.

Pick: More

Aaron Gordon (F – DEN): 9.5 points (alt line)

Aaron Gordon has become the X-factor in this series as the primary defender on Karl Anthony-Towns and as a high-efficiency scorer despite limited actions being run for him. AG has scored 18 or more in three of the past four games while shooting above .500 in each. Jokic is all but certain to keep his running mate fed as Gordon going when Jokic and Jamal Murray also locked in will usually result in a win. Grab the More on Gordon for Game 6.

Pick: More

Anthony Edwards (G – MIN): 24.5 points (alt line)

Ant-Man is going to need to do what superstars do in do-or-die situations and step up to help his team stave off elimination. There is also a 19.5 line available, but with the multiplier being listed at 1.04x versus 1.25x, we will stick with the 25 point barrier. Edwards has disappointed with two sub 20 point performances in the last three games (all losses), so expect a return of the aggressive Ant-Man who solidified himself as a superstar in this league through the first six games of the playoffs. Edwards has scored 27 or more points in three of the five games of this series and in six of his nine postseason contests overall.

Pick: More

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
