Today’s MLB DFS & Player Props Picks
Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Charlie Morton (ATL) vs. WAS
Charlie Morton is in good form entering today's start. According to FanGraphs, in his previous five starts spanning 28.0 innings, he's had a 2.25 ERA, 3.62 SIERA, 1.14 WHIP, 9.6 BB%, 26.1 K% and 27.4 CSW%. The veteran righty hasn't had a quality start in back-to-back turns. However, Morton had quality starts in the four prior turns.
Morton has an ideal matchup and matching betting info today. This season, the Nationals are tied for 24th in wRC+ (93) against righties and on the road (86 wRC+). In the previous 14 days, Washington was 29th in RC+ (72). The Braves are -200, and the game's total is 8.5 runs.
Joe Ryan (MIN) vs. KC
Among today's probable starters, Joe Ryan has had the lowest xERA (2.78) in 2024. The 27-year-old righty has had five quality starts in his previous six opportunities. Ryan has also struck out at least five batters in nine of 10 starts this year, including his four most recent turns.
The Royals are slightly above average against righties, ranking tied for 13th in wRC+ (99). However, they're 26th in wRC+ (85) on the road. The Twins are -170, and the game's total is a pitcher-friendly 8.0 runs.
Alec Marsh (KC) at MIN
Alec Marsh is on the opposing end of Ryan in what might be a pitching duel. In Marsh's last three starts totaling 16.1 innings, he's had a 2.76 ERA, 3.39 SIERA, 1.16 WHIP, 7.4 BB%, 27.9 K%, 29.9 CSW%, 102 Stuff+, 104 Location+ and 102 Pitching+. In his most recent start, Marsh ceded three earned runs in six innings, halting a four-start stretch of holding opponents to one earned run or less. He's roughly a five-and-dive pitcher, but Marsh has made it work.
Marsh has a decent matchup today. This year, the Twins are tied for 15th in wRC+ (98) with a 23.8 K% against righties and 18th in wRC+ (100) with a 24.5 K% at home. In the last 14 days, Minnesota was 27th in wRC+ (79) with a 22.2K%. The Royals are underdogs (+145), but the game's total (8.0 runs) isn't terrifying.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Guardians are a terror for lefties, ranking second in wRC+ (128) against them this year. They're also 13th in wRC+ (97) on the road and were seventh in wRC+ (117) in the previous 14 days. The lefty-killing Guardians will get an offensive boost from the park factors at Coors Field and facing Austin Gomber. The lefty's 3.14 ERA in 28.2 innings at home this season was lucky, evidenced by his 4.60 xFIP. Cleveland should start his regression today.
- Home (Great American Ball Park)
- Game Total/Moneyline: 9.0 Runs/CIN -135
Great American Ball Park (GABP) isn't quite the offense-inflating ballpark Coors Field is, but it's still a launching pad in its own right. Lance Lynn is a non-threatening matchup, and GABP can get the better of him. In his last five starts spanning 25.2 innings, the veteran righty has had a 4.56 ERA, 4.29 SIERA and 1.32 WHIP. Lynn has also allowed a .332 wOBA to lefties and a .306 wOBA to righties this season. The Reds don't have a powerhouse offense, but they're good enough to rough up Lynn.
Core Studs
- In 228 plate appearances this season, Jose Ramirez has hit 15 homers and stolen eight bases with a .316 OBP, .268 ISO and 137 wRC+.
- In 106 career plate appearances against lefties, David Fry has hit six homers with a .491 OBP, .304 ISO and 213 wRC+.
- In 314 plate appearances against righties at home since joining the Reds in 2022, Jake Fraley has hit 14 homers with a .354 OBP, .211 ISO and 124 wRC+.
Value Plays/Punts
- Jacob Hurtubise is a high on-base table-setter atop Cincinnati's lineup, making him a compelling punt.
- Johnathan Rodriguez is getting a look in the majors after succeeding in Triple-A. In 387 career plate appearances in Triple-A, he hit 18 homers with a .382 OBP, .230 ISO and 126 wRC+.
- In 515 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Dansby Swanson has had a .338 OBP, .199 ISO and 118 wRC+.

Check out our best picks on the MLB Underdog Cheat Sheet
Alec Marsh: 2.5 Walks Allowed - Lower
Marsh hasn't walked over two batters in any of his nine starts this year. Additionally, his 43.7 Zone%, 72.3 Z-Swing% and 49.4 Swing% are higher than the league averages of 42.5%, 68.8% and 47.3%, respectively. Thus, we project Marsh to walk 2.10 batters today.
Dansby Swanson: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher (Scorcher 1.25x)
As I noted above, Swanson is an above-average hitter against southpaws. In 515 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, he's hit 26 doubles, one triple and 21 homers with a .263 batting average, .462 slugging and .199 ISO. Conversely, Robert Gasser has struck out only two of 58 righties he's faced, ceding a .320 batting average and .340 slugging.
Austin Gomber: 1.5 Walks Allowed - Higher (Scorcher 1.25x)
Gomber didn't walk any batters in Oakland in his most recent start. However, he walked precisely two in the three prior starts. He's walked over 1.5 batters in seven of 10 starts this season. Moreover, Gomber has walked over 1.5 batters in four of five starts in Colorado. We project him to walk 1.71 batters today.
