Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings

George Kirby (SEA) vs. KC
George Kirby is rolling into tonight. According to FanGraphs, in his previous five starts spanning 29.0 innings, he's had a 2.17 ERA, 2.82 SIERA, 2.8 BB%, 29.4 K%, 0.79 WHIP, 27.0 CSW%, 105 Stuff+, 105 Location+ and 106 Pitching+. Additionally, Kirby has had three quality starts in four turns at home this season.

The righty has a good matchup and favorable betting info tonight. This season, the Royals are tied for 14th in wRC+ (99) against righties but 25th in wRC+ (84) on the road. Thus, the Mariners are -146, and the game's total is a pitcher-friendly 7.0 runs.

Reynaldo Lopez (ATL) vs. CHC
Reynaldo Lopez is cooking with gasoline in his return to starting. In six starts spanning 35.1 innings this year, Lopez has a 1.53 ERA, 3.70 xERA, 3.86 SIERA, 1.13 WHIP, 9.9 BB%, 25.5 K% and 28.1 CSW%. He's allowed three runs or fewer in every start and ceded one earned run or less five times. Lopez has also struck out at least five batters in every start.

Lopez's matchup is decent tonight. This year, the Cubs are tied for 16th in wRC+ (98) and have a 23.8 K% against righties. Chicago is also 19th in wRC+ (91) and has a 22.5 K% on the road. Finally, the Braves are -150, and the game's total is 8.0 runs.

Randy Vasquez (SD) vs. COL

Randy Vasquez is a matchup-driven GPP suggestion. First, his salary is tiny, allowing gamers to spend significant cap space on hitters. Second, the Rockies are dreadful by every meaningful split.

This season, the Rockies are 28th in wRC+ (79), have a 27.5 K% against righties, and are 28th in wRC+ (78) with a 27.2 K% on the road. The betting info is mixed. The Padres are -205. So, that's ideal for Vasquez's outlook. The game's total of 8.5 runs isn't excellent. Nevertheless, it isn't a deterrent for rolling the dice on Vasquez.

Suggested Lineup Stacks

• Game Total/Moneyline: 8.0 Runs/MIL -140

The Brewers are the top stack tonight and a fit in all game types. In 127.1 innings on the road since last year, Mitch Keller has had a 5.30 ERA and allowed 1.34 HR/9 and a .345 wOBA. The Brewers can exacerbate his struggles. Milwaukee is second in wRC+ (124) against righties and tied for third in wRC+ (121) at home this year. Their upside is immense.

• Game Total/Moneyline: 8.0 Runs/ATL -150

The Braves are a GPP stack against white-hot Shota Imanaga. The 30-year-old lefty has lit MLB on fire, spinning a 1.08 ERA and 3.28 xFIP in seven starts. Still, he's on an unsustainable pace, and Atlanta's offense is formidable. This year, the Braves are sixth in wRC+ (121) against lefties and tied for fifth in wRC+ (120) at home. They can provide Imanaga with his first bump in the road, and gamers might not be willing to spend the high salaries required to use Atlanta's best hitters, enhancing their appeal in tournaments.

Core Studs

• Christian Yelich has turned back the clock. In 63 plate appearances this season, he's smacked five homers and stolen three bases with a .435 OBP, .327 ISO and 213 wRC+.
• Oneil Cruz is locked in. He's homered in back-to-back games and four games in his previous eight. Cruz is also on a six-game hitting streak, with four multi-hit efforts. In 65 plate appearances since April 22, he's smashed four homers with a .385 OBP, .279 ISO and 180 wRC+.
• Brice Turang is amidst a breakout campaign. In 149 plate appearances, he has a .365 OBP and 126 wRC+ with 16 stolen bases in 16 attempts. The speedy leadoff hitter has a tantalizing matchup to steal bases tonight. Keller has allowed seven stolen bases in eight starts this season and 19 in 40 since last year. Additionally, Yasmani Grandal has allowed five stolen bases in five starts this year and 103 in 84 starts since last season.

Value Plays/Punts

• In 105 plate appearances this season, Jo Adell has hit seven homers and stolen seven bases with a .314 OBP, .277 ISO and 134 wRC+.
• Joey Ortiz is an appealing punt. In 99 plate appearances this year, he has a .354 OBP, .202 ISO and 130 wRC+.
• Alec Burleson got off to a slow start but has rebounded since. In 69 plate appearances since April 9, he's hit three homers with a .338 OBP, .172 ISO and 132 wRC+.

William Contreras: 7.0 Fantasy Points - Higher (Underdog Fantasy)

William Contreras: 7.5 Fantasy Points - More (PrizePicks)

William Contreras is crushing the ball this season. In 182 plate appearances this year, he's hit five homers with a .429 OBP, .179 ISO and 171 wRC+. In addition, in 271 plate appearances against righties at home since last year, Contreras has hit six homers with a .384 OBP, .157 ISO and 134 wRC+. Conversely, Keller allowed a .313 wOBA to righties on the road this year and a .387 wOBA to right-handed batters on the road this season.

Christian Yelich: 7.5 Fantasy Points - Higher/More

Yelich is a holdover from the core studs. As I noted, he's turned back the clock. Specifically, Yelich has lifted his launch angle while continuing to hit the ball hard. Yelich's 8.4-degree launch angle is his highest since 2019, and he's posted a .347 xBA and .614 xSLG. He can stay hot against a pitcher who yielded a .363 wOBA to lefties on the road in 2023 and a .355 wOBA to left-handed batters on the road this season.

Brady Singer: 6.5 Strikeouts - Lower/Less

The Mariners are a strikeout-prone team. Nevertheless, 6.5 strikeouts is a high bar for Brady Singer to clear. In eight starts spanning 45.2 innings this season, he's had 46 strikeouts, a 25.1 K% and 9.07 K/9. However, Singer had more than 6.5 strikeouts only twice. Furthermore, he's struck out over 6.5 batters on the road only once in 14 starts.
