Fantasy Baseball Trade Advice: 5 Players on the Trade Block (Week 9)

What makes fantasy baseball so much fun? All pseudo-GMs have their own specific answer to this question, but odds are high that most responses would deal with the fact that the landscape is always changing.

There’s always new data to explore and new opinions to be formed. Plus, the collective fantasy baseball community is wrong on so much. If the consensus opinion on every player was always right, then there would be no reason to trade! Chris Welsh has some suggestions on what those moves could be, so stick around to see who he’s looking to trade for and who he’s looking to offload.

Fantasy Baseball Trade Advice Highlights

  • Brandon Pfaadt (SP – ARI): Despite a 4.17 ERA, Brandon Pfaadt’s expected ERA is a full run lower at 3.06. His hard-hit rate has decreased from 43% to 37%, and he recently struck out 11 batters in his last start. With improvements in his pitch mix and potential for increased strikeouts, Pfaadt is a prime buy-low candidate.
  • Logan Webb (SP – SF): Logan Webb’s 3.03 ERA might look appealing, but his expected ERA of 4.84 suggests trouble ahead. With a career-high hard-hit rate over 50% and a declining strikeout rate, now is the time to sell before his performance potentially declines further.
  • Isaac Paredes (3B – TB): Isaac Paredes is hitting .304 with eight home runs, but his underlying metrics are concerning. His expected batting average is only .238, and he has one of the worst hard-hit rates in baseball at 27.7%. Sell high while his surface stats are still attractive.
