News & Notes

Kyle Finnegan continues his impressive performances as the closer for the Nationals, which have also been a sneaky good team so far this season. They have competed in almost every game, and Finnegan continues to take advantage of his opportunities.

Paul Sewald got activated from the injured list on Tuesday, while Evan Phillips was recently placed on the IL. Sewald takes back over his role as Arizona’s closer ahead of Kevin Ginkel, while it’ll likely be some sort of committee for the Dodgers. Alex Vesia and Daniel Hudson have both seen save chances.

The Twins may be using Jhoan Duran differently. He recorded a save on Wednesday but a hold in his two prior appearances. He may see some appearances in the eighth inning if that’s against the middle of the lineup.

After allowing runs in four of his prior five appearances, the Orioles put Craig Kimbrel in the game in the seventh inning on Friday, with Yennier Cano recording the save. This could be a situation to monitor if Kimbrel continues to be put into games before the ninth inning more often.
