Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (4/30)
Donovan Mitchell (G – CLE): 5.5 1st quarter points
Donovan has been excellent for the Cavaliers in the first round, pouring in eight or more first quarter points in three of the four games in this series. He has not always remained locked in after the first, but for the purposes of this total, that doesn’t affect us. This line has been listed at 6.5 or 7.5 all series, so we should be thanking his two point first quarter in Game 3 for dropping the total to a much more palatable number. Mash the More on Mitchell for Monday night.
Pick: More
Joel Embiid (C – PHI): 9.5 rebounds
Embiid has been locked in on the boards for the 76ers, hauling in 10 rebounds in two of his last three games and recording eight in the other. Now, these are not the type of gaudy totals we were used to seeing from the Cameroonian big man,= but still represent strong enough numbers for this play to be a consideration option for Tuesday’s slate. The fact that he has been a force on the boards despite clearly still being affected by the injury has been encouraging. Press the More on Embiid for Game 5.
Pick: More
Tyrese Maxey (G – PHI): 4.5 1st quarter points
Tyrese Maxey scored seven or more first quarter points in the first three games of this series, but thanks to a slow first in Game 4, this total is now listed at 4.5 instead of 5.5. The two points scored in his last game seems to be more aberration than anything else, as he took only two shots while Kelly Oubre and Tobias Harris combined for 10 shots while Embiid also took 10. Tap the More on Tyrese for Game 5.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
