Welcome to the first FantasyPros Weekly Pitching Ranking of 2024. On Fridays, we glance at the upcoming week and rank starting pitchers based on their talent and the team they play against. These rankings are for the week of Monday, April 8, through Sunday, April 14.
Rankings use Expert Consensus as a starting point. Matchup information is found on the Pitcher Planner’s resource for probable pitchers.
As always – remember that some starts are projected over a week in advance. Dates can change due to rain, injuries, or anything else. Be sure to check the Pitcher Planner later on for more up-to-date information.

Top 50 Starting Pitcher Rankings: Week 3
Best Matchups
- While Zac Gallen is starting at Coors Field, managers should not be that afraid. Despite the notoriety, home runs are not as easy to hit in Colorado unless the weather is warm. The forecast is predicting temperatures in the 50s when Gallen pitches on Monday (4/8).
- Shane Bieber has had a torrid beginning to the year, a streak that should continue against the putrid White Sox offense.
- It would be surprising if Nathan Eovaldi does not dominate Oakland, for the same reasons as Bieber vs. CWS.
Best Matchups (Hopefully) on the Waiver Wire
- Jared Jones impressed in his rookie debut against Miami with a vicious fastball, striking out ten. Fantasy managers should hold Jones on the bench if they decide not to start him against the Phillies.
- Logan Allen is a perfect streaming option. He is a decent pitcher who should look like a stud when facing the White Sox.
- MacKenzie Gore has shown flashes of brilliance throughout his three-year major league career. Although Gore has been inconsistent, he has significant potential versus Oakland.
Least Favorable Matchups
- Pablo Lopez against the Dodgers is concerning, especially considering his low-strikeout matchup against Cleveland. Start the ace but brace yourself.
- Blake Snell versus Washington appears an easy matchup, but the reigning Cy Young Winner is rusty. Managers should start him with some caution.
- Nick Lodolo is set to return from a left calf issue for a season debut in the South Side. The White Sox offense is weak, yet caution must always be exercised when a pitcher returns from injury.
- Bailey Ober blew up when he allowed eight runs to Kansas City, and he is now facing a hot Detroit team. Ober’s early struggles should give managers pause before starting him.
