The Texas Swing started off with a bang last week. The top-concentrated player pool for the Houston Open loaded up on Scottie Scheffler and cast a wide net on value plays to great effect. One lineup featured Scottie Scheffler, champion Stephan Jaeger and surprise runner-up Alejandro Tosti. This build cracked the top 20 in a tournament with 2,300 entries.
This week is a staple event on the PGA Tour with the Valero Texas Open from TPC San Antonio. There are some ringers for this tournament, along with some exciting golfers playing this event for the very first time. The Masters are next week and more golfers are opting to use this week as a tuneup for Augusta instead of taking the week off.

TPC San Antonio isn’t the most remarkable golf course on the Tour rota. The par-70 layout is rather long at nearly 7,500 yards but its main defense is still Mother Nature. The fairways are somewhat narrow and treelined but the rough is far from a nuisance should a player miss his mark off the tee. Much of the statistical emphasis is on the second and third shots. These greens are very fast and difficult to hold on approach, while also providing tricky putting conditions. A good combination of short game and iron play will go a long way to achieve a low score on the card.
For the second consecutive week, we will eat some chalk at the top. This comes with the caveat that our exposure will not exceed 30% of lineups. Since all three at the top are worth the high ownership, we can get equal slices of them and increase our odds of building optimal lineups. The strength of this field is in the $7K range, so build accordingly. From River Walk to The Alamo, let’s dive in.
