Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (4/1)
Cade Cunningham (G – DET): 6.5 1st quarter points
Cade slowed down a bit in his last few games but continues to be the lone tone-setter for the Detroit Pistons. I was surprised to see this total still at 6.5 after he failed to hit the mark in his last game, but with tonight’s opponent being the Memphis Grizzlies, it does make some sense. Cade has scored eight or more first quarter points in three of his last four games and has dropped seven or more in seven of his past 11. He scored six or more in nine of those 11. Cade scored seven or more first quarter points in each of his last three games against Western Conference opponents. Clap the More on Cade for Monday night.
Pick: More
Jayson Tatum (F – BOS): 6.5 1st quarter points
Tatum has stumbled out of the gate recently, scoring four or fewer points in each of his last two games. However, Tatum was rolling before that, dropping seven or more points in nine of his last 10 games and six or more in all. His recent mini-slump is directly tied to aggressiveness, as Tatum took just two shots in each of his last two first quarters. He should shake off the passive bug tonight as both Jaylen Brown (hand) and Kristaps Prozingis (hamstring) are listed as questionable and may be less aggressive if active. Tap the More on Tatum for tonight’s matchup against a Charlotte Hornets team allowing opponents to shoot .495 from the field (third worst in the NBA).
Pick: More
Devin Booker (G – PHX): 7.5 1st quarter points
Booker has scored 10 or more first quarter points in four of his last five games and eight or more in 12 of his last 16 overall. Booker scored four or fewer points each time he failed to hit eight. Tonight, the Suns face off against the New Orleans Pelicans as the two teams jockey for position in the Western Conference standings. A win tonight could provide a path out of the play-in, so expect Book and Kevin Durant to come out hot. Bump the More on Booker for Monday night basketball.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
