Wednesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Dylan Cease (SD) vs. CHC
Dylan Cease is off to an excellent start for the Padres after a disappointing final campaign for the White Sox. According to FanGraphs, in two starts spanning 10.2 innings this season, Cease has a 3.38 ERA, 2.67 xERA, 3.94 xFIP, 3.55 SIERA, 0.94 WHIP, 9.3 BB%, 30.2 K% and 28.9 CSW%.
Cease's velocity has rebounded, with his heater averaging 96.1 mph after averaging 95.6 mph last season. The pitch modeling is also strong. This season, Cease has 118 Stuff+, 98 Location+ and 105 Pitching+. The betting info also supports using Cease in DFS. The Padres are -142, and the game's total is 8.0 runs.
Cody Bradford (TEX) vs. OAK
Cody Bradford is largely a matchup-based suggestion. Six of Oakland's projected starters have had an 88 wRC+ or lower against lefties since 2021 or since debuting in the majors. Moreover, seven of those hitters have had at least a 23.8 K%.
Even though the matchup is the primary draw for using Bradford, he's pitched well this season. In two starts spanning 12.2 innings this season, the young lefty has a 2.13 ERA, 1.89 xERA, 4.27 xFIP, 3.89 SIERA, 0.47 WHIP, 2.3 BB%, 22.7 K%, 27.2 CSW%, 101 Stuff+, 105 Location+ and 98 Pitching+. In addition, the Rangers are -188, albeit the game's total is a slightly threatening 9.0 runs.
Hunter Greene (CIN) vs. MIL
Hunter Greene is a GPP-specific suggestion in his treacherous home ballpark. The risk is apparent. Great American Ball Park can humble even elite starting pitchers.
Still, Greene has an electrifying arsenal and elite strikeout potential. This season, he has 141 Stuff+, 90 Location+ and 100 Pitching+. Greene also has a 28.3 K% and 26.2 CSW% in two starts this season.
The matchup can bring the best out of Greene's strikeout upside. Among the 10 players the Brewers have rotated through nine starting spots against righties lately, seven have had at least a 25.0 K% against righties since 2021 or since debuting in the majors. Greene can post a massive DFS score if he's clicking on all cylinders.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Yankees have a drool-inducing matchup tonight. In 15 appearances (12 starts) totaling 57.2 innings last season, Ryan Weathers had a 6.55 ERA, 4.67 xERA, 5.56 xFIP and 6.46 SIERA. The lefty's 4.00 ERA in two starts this season doesn't align with his 5.96 xERA and 4.73 xFIP, either.
Furthermore, Weathers has been crushed by both lefties and righties. Since last year, Weathers has allowed lefties a .352 wOBA and righties a .404 wOBA.
Core Studs
- In 441 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Aaron Judge has had a .387 OBP, .328 ISO and 170 wRC+.
- Gleyber Torres has had a .345 OBP, .222 ISO and 135 wRC+ in 446 plate appearances against lefties since 2021 and leads off for the Bronx Bombers.
Value Plays/Punts
- Jake Cronenworth had a 110 wRC+ or higher each of his first three seasons before stumbling to a 92 wRC+ last season. In 60 plate appearances this season, he has a .356 OBP and 127 wRC+. It appears last year was a blip on the radar.
- Brett Baty might be settling in at the big-league level after a productive minor-league career and stumbling initially in the majors. In 43 plate appearances this season, Baty has a .372 OBP and 120 wRC+. In addition, Allan Winans coughed up a .413 wOBA to lefties last season.
- DJ Stewart is also intriguing punt exposure to Winans from the left side of the dish. In 429 plate appearances against righties since 2021, Stewart has had a .329 OBP, .235 ISO and 114 wRC+.
- The Orioles promoted Jackson Holliday to the majors last night. The gifted prospect shortstop has the minimum salary at DK and isn't in FD's player pool. In 147 plate appearances in Triple-A, Holliday had a .429 OBP, .179 ISO and 136 wRC+.

In 1,136 plate appearances against righties since 2021, Corey Seager has had a .380 OBP, .241 ISO and 148 wRC+. He's also thrived with the platoon advantage at home. Aaron Judge: 9.5 Fantasy Points - Higher (Underdog Fantasy)
Aaron Judge: 8.0 Fantasy Points - More (PrizePicks)
As I noted above, Judge is a lefty-killer, and Weathers has no answers for right-handed batters. In 229 plate appearances against lefties at home since 2021, the hulking slugger has had a .371 OBP, .304 ISO and 158 wRC+.
Tyler O'Neill: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher/More
