Tuesday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings

Logan Gilbert (SEA) vs. CIN
Logan Gilbert is cooking with gasoline. According to FanGraphs, in three starts spanning 20.1 innings this season, Gilbert has a 2.66 ERA, 3.60 xERA, 2.93 SIERA, 0.84 WHIP, 3.9 BB%, 29.9 K%, 31.8 CSW%, 126 Stuff+, 97 Location+ and 102 Pitching+.

He doesn't have an easy matchup tonight. However, Cincinnati will provide him with a significant strikeout ceiling. The Reds have struck out in 27.3% of their plate appearances against righties this year. Furthermore, all of their projected hitters have had at least a 20.9 K% against righties since 2021, and three have had at least a 29.5 K%.

The betting info is also enticing for Gilbert. The Mariners are -135, and the game's total is a puny 7.0 runs.

Jared Jones (PIT) at NYM
Jared Jones has gotten off to a fast start in the majors, albeit not perfect. The rookie righty's 4.00 ERA is higher than his 3.40 xERA and 2.31 SIERA primarily because he's coughed up 2.00 HR/9 in his three starts this season. The ERA estimators are encouraging, and his strikeout ability is elite.

Jones has a 34.7 K%, 33.5 CSW%, 135 Stuff+, 105 Location+ and 113 Pitching+. The Mets can be a challenging matchup for right-handed pitchers. Nevertheless, the game's total is just 7.5 runs, and the Pirates are only slight underdogs (+112). Thus, Jones is a high-ceiling SP2 at DK and a formidable GPP pick at FD.

Lance Lynn (STL) at OAK

Lance Lynn has a tasty matchup tonight. This year, the Athletics are 24th in wRC+ (85) and have a 28.1 K% against right-handed pitchers. Additionally, only three of their projected starters have had higher than a 100 wRC+ against righties since 2021.

Lynn isn't risk-free in a cushy matchup, though. In three starts spanning 13.2 innings this year, Lynn's 2.63 ERA has outkicked his 4.49 xERA and 3.72 SIERA. His 85 Stuff+, 99 Location+ and 93 Pitching+ have also left much to be desired. Still, the Cardinals are -150, and the game's total is 8.0 runs. So, the betting info is rock-solid for Lynn.

Patrick Corbin has an 8.44 ERA in three starts this year. Moreover, since 2021, Corbin has had a 5.83 ERA and 1.71 HR/9. He has no business in an MLB rotation. Since last season, righties have crushed him for a .364 wOBA, and lefties have tallied a .338 wOBA. A bad offense would be appealing to stack against Corbin, and the Dodgers have a loaded offense. They'll probably be chalky, but LA is good chalk to eat.

• Game Total/Moneyline: 10.0 Runs/ATL -115

The Braves can extend Hunter Brown's 2024 struggles for another night. The Royals lit up Brown for nine runs in 0.2 innings after the Rangers crushed him for five runs in 3.0 innings. Brown is a mess this season, and Atlanta's offense has five projected hitters with at least a 120 wRC+ and six with at least a .213 ISO against righties since 2021.

• In 91 plate appearances this year, Mookie Betts has six homers, three stolen bases, a .462 OBP, .307 ISO and 199 wRC+.
• Since 2021, Teoscar Hernandez has smashed 29 homers with a .348 OBP, .315 ISO and 165 wRC+ in 405 plate appearances against lefties.
• Since 2021, Matt Olson has had a .374 OBP, .285 ISO and 149 wRC+ against righties.

Value Plays/Punts

• Luke Raley has had a .319 OBP, .209 ISO and 114 wRC+ against righties since 2021.

Mookie Betts: 9.0 Fantasy Points - More (PrizePicks)

Betts had a disappointing showing last night against a debuting lefty. Fortunately, Corbin is a get-right matchup for LA's stud leadoff hitter. In 536 plate appearances against southpaws since 2021, Betts has had a .392 OBP, .295 ISO and 166 wRC+.

Ronald Acuna: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher/More

Ronald Acuna sits atop Atlanta's lineup against the struggling Brown. In 633 plate appearances against righties on the road since 2021, Acuna has hit 31 doubles, three triples and 29 homers with a .306 batting average, .526 slugging and .219 ISO. Conversely, since last year, 378 righties have hit 17 doubles, two triples and 19 homers with a .300 batting average, .528 slugging and .383 wOBA against Brown. Thus, we project Acuna for 3.0 total bases and he appears on the Underdog Cheat Sheet and the PrizePicks Cheat Sheet.

Yordan Alvarez: 1.5 Total Bases - Higher/More

In 551 plate appearances against righties at home since 2021, Yordan Alvarez has hit 25 doubles, two triples and 31 homers with a .265 batting average, .523 slugging and .258 ISO. In addition, Alvarez has had small-sample-size success against Reynaldo Lopez. According to Baseball Savant, in five plate appearances against Lopez, Alvarez has hit two homers with a .528 xBA and 2.058 xSLG.
