Monday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings
Zach Eflin (TB) at LAA
Zach Eflin had a rough first start this season but rebounded in his second turn, holding the Rangers to one run on five hits, one walk and five strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Eflin was also lights out in 2023.
According to FanGraphs, in 31 starts spanning 177.2 innings in 2023, he had a 3.50 ERA, 3.02 xERA, 3.12 xFIP, 3.30 SIERA, 1.02 WHIP, 26.5 K%, 3.4 BB%, 49.8 GB% and 30.2 CSW%. Eflin has a tasty matchup and favorable betting info tonight. The Angels have a 73 wRC+ and 26.3 K% versus righties this season, and Mike Trout is the only elite hitter in their lineup. The Rays are -140 tonight, and the game's total is 8.5 runs. Eflin is the best pitcher on the slate in all game types.
Jose Berrios (TOR) vs. SEA
Jose Berrios is DK's top SP2 in cash games and a viable GPP choice at FD. The veteran righty has been solid, albeit unspectacular, at home for the Blue Jays. In 259.1 innings at home since the Blue Jays acquired him in 2021, Berrios has had a 4.06 ERA, 4.16 xFIP, 4.21 SIERA, 1.29 WHIP, 6.8 BB% and 21.5 K%.
He'll toe the slab against the Mariners tonight. Seattle has MLB's highest strikeout rate (32.9 K%) and a lousy 68 wRC+ against righties this season. The Blue Jays are -120 favorites at home, and the game's total is 8.0 runs. Berrios's salary at DK is more appealing than at FD. Nevertheless, he's an acceptable GPP pick at the latter.
Spencer Turnbull (PHI) at STL
Spencer Turnbull held the Reds to one unearned run on three hits, zero walks and seven strikeouts in 5.0 innings in his 2024 debut. The veteran hurler had eye-catching pitch modeling data in that turn, producing 112 Stuff+, 112 Location+ and 107 Pitching+.
Beyond the one-start sample of encouraging data, Turnbull has held right-handed batters to a .301 wOBA and struck out 24.0% of them in his career. St. Louis's best hitters are right-handed. As a result, Turnbull is an intriguing GPP dart at his tiny salary since the best stacks are expensive.

Kyle Freeland is on the fast track to pitching himself out of MLB. In two starts totaling just 5.2 innings this year, the veteran lefty has coughed up 17 runs, all earned. He had a 5.03 ERA, 5.70 xERA, 5.13 xFIP and 5.24 SIERA in 29 starts last season. In addition, Freeland allowed 10 earned runs to tonight's opponent in his first start this season, which was in Arizona. The Diamondbacks should beat the brakes off him in MLB's hitting paradise.

In 14 appearances (11 starts) spanning 71.2 innings last season, Julio Teheran had a 4.40 ERA, 4.93 xERA, 4.67 xFIP, 4.58 SIERA and allowed 1.63 HR/9. He's a bottom-of-the-barrel starting pitcher, and Atlanta's offense is a powerhouse. Seven of their projected starters have had at least a 100 wRC+ against righties since 2021, and four have had at least a 131 wRC+. The Braves can feast tonight.

- Ketel Marte is atop Arizona's lineup at Coors Field against Freeland. He's also a lefty-killer. In 484 plate appearances against southpaws since 2021, he's hit 19 homers with a .386 OBP, .240 ISO and 155 wRC+.
- In 478 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Eugenio Suarez has slugged 18 homers with a .345 OBP, .197 ISO and 120 wRC+. Conversely, Freeland has coughed up a .399 wOBA to righties since last season.
- Marcell Ozuna has raked against righties at home since joining the Braves in 2020. In 636 plate appearances against righties at home since 2020, Ozuna has mashed 40 taters with a .340 OBP, .270 ISO and 134 wRC+.
- Michael Harris has hit 31 homers with a .350 OBP, .225 ISO and 139 wRC+ in 724 plate appearances against righties in his career.
Value Plays/Punts
- Francisco Alvarez has hit 13 homers with a .284 OBP, .319 ISO and 120 wRC+ in 148 plate appearances against righties on the road in his career. He's underpriced at DK and an ideal choice at catcher.
- Curtis Mead is an FD-specific punt suggestion, where his salary is only $100 above the minimum. Mead lit up lefties in his minor-league career and has had a 150 wRC+ against them in 44 plate appearances in the majors.

Austin Riley: 1.5 Total Bases Higher (Underdog Fantasy)/More (PrizePicks)
Austin Riley has hit two homers and three doubles with a .257 batting average, .514 slugging and .257 ISO in 37 plate appearances this season. He's also dominated in same-handed matchups at home. In 814 plate appearances against righties at home since 2021, Riley has hit 38 doubles, two triples and 46 homers with a .289 batting average, .535 slugging and .246 ISO.
Ketel Marte: 10.5 Fantasy Points - Higher (Underdog Fantasy)
Ketel Marte: 9.5 Fantasy Points - More (PrizePicks)
Marte's dominance against lefties was highlighted above. In 48 plate appearances this season, he's had a .375 OBP, .286 ISO and 157 wRC+. Meanwhile, Freeland has allowed a .371 OBP, .573 slugging and .399 wOBA to 562 right-handed batters since last year. Marte should feast from atop Arizona's order at Coors Field.
Jose Caballero: 0.5 Total Bases - Higher/More
Jose Cabellero is featured on the Underdog Cheat Sheet and in the PrizePicks section of the props tool for his total bases prop. Caballero has recorded a hit in seven of eight games. The 27-year-old infielder has also had a .266 batting average against lefties in his career. Tyler Anderson is a favorable matchup. The veteran lefty has allowed a .262 batting average to right-handed batters since last season.
