Each week, I will be looking at the most popular FAAB pick-ups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should get them for our own leagues.

Week 2 High-Stakes FAAB League (2024 Fantasy Baseball)
Oswaldo Cabrera (2B,3B,SS,OF – NYY)
Cabrera was picked up in 57 leagues with a max bid of $157 (each team starts the season with $1,000) and a minimum bid of $8. Cabrera played in all four of the New York Yankees’ opening series versus the Houston Astros and hit two home runs with a .438/.471/.875 triple slash. Cabrera is playing regularly while DJ LeMahieu is on the IL with a foot injury. With LeMahieu out for a while and having declining skills, Cabrera could easily turn into a full-time player for the rest of the season.
Jason Foley (RP – DET)
Foley was picked up in 44 leagues (he had already been rostered in 23% of the leagues prior to this weekend) with a max bid of $479 and a minimum bid of $149. This was not unexpected as Foley emerged as the closer in Detroit after the prevailing belief being that Alex Lange was the guy. I am not a fan of bidding as much as we saw him go for in most leagues as the winning bid in seven of the 44 leagues had a bid of less than $200. However, Foley has looked fantastic and if he can hold the job all season, then he would be a major get for these teams.
Travis d’Arnaud (C – ATL)
d’Arnaud was picked up in 33 leagues with a max bid of $255 and a minimum bid of $10. Sean Murphy is expected to miss four to six weeks after he injured his oblique over the weekend and d’Arnaud is his replacement for one of the best lineups in baseball. d’Arnaud has been a pretty decent fantasy option when he stays healthy and gets playing time. He will get time for the next month or so.
