Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups: Kevin Ginkel, Emerson Hancock, Chris Martin, Tyler Freeman

Each week, I will be looking at the most popular FAAB pick-ups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should get them for our own leagues.

Week 2 High-Stakes FAAB League (2024 Fantasy Baseball)

Emerson Hancock (SP – SEA)

Hancock was picked up in 35 leagues with a max bid of $69 and a minimum bid of $10. He is the fill in for Bryan Woo while Woo is on the IL. Hancock is not a particularly interesting pitcher from a fantasy perspective because of the lack of strikeouts, but he pitches in a good park for a good team and he has a two-start week against the Guardians and the Brewers which are not teams you are very afraid of.

Chris Martin (RP – BOS)

Martin was picked up in 33 leagues with a max bid $67 and a min bid $1. Martin is the set up guy in Boston and has been picked up in case Kenley Jansen‘s back issues send him to the IL.

Tyler Freeman (2B,3B,SS – CLE)

Freeman was picked up in 39 leagues with a max bid of $62 with a min bid of $1. Freeman played a lot this weekend including in centerfield while already being eligible at 3B. Freeman has a decent hit tool and a bit of speed, but is more than likely nothing more than a short side platoon player.

Kevin Ginkel (RP – ARI)

Ginkel was picked up in 22 leagues (he was already rostered in 62% of leagues) with a max bid of $457 and a min bid of $121. With Paul Sewald on the IL with an oblique injury, Ginkel is the likely candidate to close games for the Diamondbacks. Sewald is expected to miss 1-2 months which means Ginkel has a lot of value for the time being.
