The best players in the world play on NFBC, and the most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event with a $1,750 buy-in, a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pick-ups on Sunday night.
Each week, I will be looking at the most popular FAAB pick-ups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should get them for our own leagues.

Week 3 High-Stakes FAAB League (2024 Fantasy Baseball)
Assad was picked up in 34 leagues with a max bid of $115 and a minimum bid of $18. Assad is coming off of a nice first start and gets a two-start week versus the Padres and the Mariners. While I like Assad, he doesn’t get enough strikeouts to take a gamble on in a lot of matchups, including against two good offenses like the Padres and the Mariners.
Green was picked up in 27 leagues with a max bid of $120 and a minimum bid of $3. Green looks like he may be the leading candidate in the Toronto closer committee until Jordan Romano returns from the IL. I like Green as a reliever, but both Erik Swanson and Romano are about a week away from returning as long as they don’t have any setbacks, so this is a short term solution.
Herrera was picked up in 42 leagues with a max bid of $81 and a minimum bid of $2. Herrera is a top catching prospect but he is stuck behind Willson Contreras. He is playing a bit more with Contreras banged up, but that injury isn’t considered serious. I don’t think he is much more than a steamer unless he finds more playing time.
Will Brennan was picked up in 43 leagues with a max bid of $81 and a minimum bid of $2. Brennan is a fine accumulator with the ability to hit for some power and steal some bases, but unless he is playing every day it becomes difficult for him to accumulate.
