Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups: Blaze Alexander, Oliver Dunn, Cody Bradford

The best players in the world play on NFBC, and the most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event with a $1,750 buy-in, a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pick-ups on Sunday night.

Each week, I will be looking at the most popular FAAB pick-ups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should get them for our own leagues.

Week 3 High-Stakes FAAB League (2024 Fantasy Baseball)

Blaze Alexander (2B,MI,SS – ARI)

Alexander was the most picked-up player in NFBC Main Event leagues this week being picked up in 53 leagues with a max price of $129 and a minimum price of $2. Alexander is a former top 50 prospect who made the Diamondbacks roster as a reserve infielder but will be pressed into full-time duty after Geraldo Perdomo hit the IL this week. Alexander doesn’t have a carrying tool for fantasy, but he profiles as a decent accumulator and his prospect pedigree makes him an attractive pick-up this week.

Oliver Dunn (2B,3B,MI – MIL)

Dunn was a popular pick up this week, being added in 50 NFBC Main Event leagues with a max bid of $81 and a minimum bid of $15. Dunn has become a regular player for the Brewers at third base and has played well, hitting .318/.400/.545 with a home run and two stolen bases in his seven games played this year. Like Alexander, he profiles as an accumulator that doesn’t have a carrying tool, but can do enough of everything to have value as long as he is playing regularly.

Cody Bradford (SP,RP – TEX)

Bradford was added in 40 leagues with a max bid of $125 and a minimum bid of $5. Bradford has pitched well since joining the rotation, but this looks to be more about the fact he is a great streaming candidate versus the lowly Oakland A’s than anything else. The problem is that Michael Lorenzen is expected to join the rotation this week which means Bradford likely heads to the minor or the bullpen after this start.
