Fantasy Impact: Edman continues to rehab from offseason surgery on his right wrist. He is beginning to progress through the early stages of his rehab and should begin hitting soon barring any setbacks.

Cubs have placed Seiya Suzuki on the 10-day IL with a right oblique strain.

Fantasy Impact: Suzuki missed six weeks in spring training last season due to a left oblique strain. The 29-year-old was off to a hot start this season, so this will be a major blow to the Cubs and fantasy managers if he has to miss any significant amount of time. The Cubs have recalled Alexander Canario to fill Suzuki’s roster spot.

Justin Verlander (shoulder) to throw bullpen Tuesday

Fantasy Impact: If the session goes well without any setbacks, Verlander would return to the rotation for the weekend series against Washington. Fantasy managers should expect the team to provide an update on Tuesday.

Jake Burger (oblique) lands on IL

Fantasy Impact: Burger suffered the injury Sunday and compared the injury to a similar one with the White Sox, which had him miss 10 days. The team has recalled Otto Lopez to take Burger’s spot on the roster.

Yesterday he compared the discomfort to 2023 with the White Sox, where he missed 10 days. #Marlins will recall Otto Lopez, who was claimed off waivers from Giants April 4.
Lopez can play SS, 2B, 3B. Last appeared in MLB in 2022.
