Jameson Taillon (back) to make rehab start Sunday

Jameson Taillon (back) is on track for a minor-league rehab start this Sunday after throwing live batting practice Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

All seems to be progressing well for Taillon now. He’s been dealing with a stiff lower back that landed him on the IL to begin the regular season. If his upcoming rehab start goes well, the veteran righty could be set to rejoin the Cubs’ rotation by mid-April. Manager Craig Counsell originally suggested that would be the timetable for Taillon.

Jeimer Candelario (elbow) to be re-evaluated Friday

Jeimer Candelario (elbow) exited Wednesday’s game and will be re-evaluated Friday.

Fantasy Impact

Candelario experienced some discomfort after a swing that resulted in a double during the eighth inning of Wednesday’s game. Manager David Bell said after the game that Candelario is dealing with a hyper-extension of the left elbow and that he will be revaluated Friday. The injury doesn’t seem serious at this point and, with the Reds off Thursday, Candelario will get a little extra time to rest.
