News & Notes
Mason Miller has taken the MLB by storm with saves in each of his past six appearances over the past couple of weeks. That includes back-to-back saves against the Yankees, striking out Juan Soto on three pitches on Thursday. The A’s remain one of the worst teams in the MLB, but that hasn’t stopped Miller from taking full advantage of all of his opportunities.
The Mariners’ bullpen has become a tad bit more of a committee. Andres Munoz is still the closer but he faces the three best opposing hitters. That hasn’t stopped him from pitching in the eighth inning in some appearances. It has led to Ryne Stanek pitching in the ninth inning, though, in some games.
Adbert Alzolay lost his closer role in the Cubs bullpen. Hector Neris has recorded three straight saves, including one against his former team the Astros on Thursday.
Paul Sewald made a rehab appearance earlier in the week. He could be ready to re-join the Diamondbacks’ bullpen soon where he would step back into his closer role.
