Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (3/5)
Buddy Hield (G – PHI): 2.5 three pointers made
Hield was brought over to the Philadelphia 76ers for one thing: to space the floor and drain threes. While he has not been able to do it alongside Joel Embiid as expected, he remains a volume shooter from deep who offers some solid value tonight, even at 2.5. Hield has drained three or more of his attempts from deep in nine of his last 10 games. He averages 3.6 three pointers made per game as a 76er and is set to take on a Nets team surrendering 3.57 three pointers per game to the shooting guard position. Bump the More on Buddy for Tuesday night.
Pick: More
Tyrese Haliburton (G – IND): 18.5 points
Haliburton’s star has been muted since the arrival of Pascal Siakam, as the pass first point guard has dealt with injuries and having to incorporate a volume shooter who is a former all-star. Haliburton has put up 14.1 points and 9.1 assists per game with Siakam versus 23.5 points and 12.5 assists per game without Siakam. Injuries and the resulting dip in playing time have played a correlative factor here, but we are talking about just about a four minute difference. Haliburton has failed to hit 19 points in each of his last five games and is expected to fall under the number again against a Mavericks team he dropped just 17 on two weeks ago. Haliburton should course correct sooner rather than later but it will take him accepting that Siakam is his Robin and not the other way around before he gets back to playing at a superstar level. Tap the Less on Tyrese for Tuesday night basketball.
Pick: Less
Victor Wembanyama (F/C – SAS): 3.5 blocks
3.5 seems like an insane total to have a More lean on, but as Wemby has proven this season, he is one of one. Wemby has recorded four or more blocks in each of his last six games and is set to take on a Rockets team that he swatted three and five shots against in his two games against them this season. This is purely a form and player play against an undersized Rockets frontcourt. Work with the More on Wemby for Tuesday night if the young superstar is active.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
