The NHL postseason race is heating up, and we have plenty of ways to get in on the action with tonight’s 12-game slate.
I’m heading the DFS route, where I’ve compiled this nine-man lineup over at DraftKings. This roster is playable in the classic $50,000 salary format, and I’ve also listed each player’s price at FanDuel’s $55,000 equivalent.
Here’s who I think is due for a big night on the ice.
Today’s NHL DFS Picks & Analysis
The lineup below is based on DraftKings, but FanDuel prices are also listed.
C1: Mika Zibanejad (NYR) | $5,500 DK, $7,100 FD
The Rangers are gunning for the President’s Trophy, and they’ll look to add two more points tonight as they host the Flyers. Philadelphia has been pretty sound defensively this season, but they’ve dropped off over their recent stretch of games. Over their current 3-4-1 stretch, they’re allowing 4.1 goals per game. So, I’ll play Mika Zibanejad, who’s fifth on New York’s roster in scoring (23G, 38A). The centerman is on a heater right now, collecting six points (3G, 3A) in his last six games.
C2: Matt Duchene (DAL) | $5,00 DK, $6,500 FD
It’s a staple of my DFS lineups to include at least one player who’s taking on the Sharks. Tonight, that’ll be Matt Duchene, who’s coming off a three-point (1G, 2A) night in Arizona on Sunday. He’s up to 62 points (24A, 38A) on the year, which is second on Dallas’ roster. This is another excellent matchup for Duchene, considering the Sharks are dead last in overall defense (3.79 GAA), 28th on the penalty kill (74.55%) and they’ve allowed the most 5-on-5 high-danger shots (187) this year.
W1: Jesper Bratt (NJ) | $6,100 DK, $7,500 FD
I have a pair of players from tonight’s Devils vs. Maple Leafs game. First, it’s Jesper Bratt, who has four points (1G, 3A) in his last four games. Bratt is New Jersey’s top scorer this season, racking up 69 points (23G, 46A) over 72 games. He’s also second in SOG with 224 shots. I love this matchup from a DFS standpoint, as we have two offensive-minded teams squaring off. Toronto still has some issues defensively, where they’re 18th overall (2.96 GAA) and 27th on the PK (76.02%).
W2: Oliver Bjorkstrand (SEA) | $5,300 DK, $6,100 FD
It has been a terrible run for the Kraken lately as they’ve dropped eight straight games (0-6-2). They’ll have a favorable matchup to get back in the win column tonight as they host the Ducks. I’ll ride with Oliver Bjorkstrand as my second winger. He’s second on the team in both scoring (18G, 31A) and SOG (166). Bjorkstrand has been serviceable over the last two weeks, registering four points (2G, 2A) in his last seven games. The winger has a high ceiling against this mediocre Anaheim defense.
W3: Max Domi (TOR) | $3,500 DK, $5,000 FD
Max Domi has shifted to winger, where he now occupies the top-line right winger role, playing alongside Tyler Bertuzzi and Auston Matthews. Anyone who’s playing with Matthews is worth a look at $3,500. Domi has been lighting it up this month, adding 10 points (1G, 9A) in his last 11 games. Let’s ride the hot hand against this New Jersey defense that’s still just 22nd overall (3.06 GAA).
D1: Adam Fox (NYR) | $5,400 DK, $7,200 FD
The other Ranger I have in my lineup tonight is Adam Fox. The D-man has been on a tear over the last month, amassing 15 points (5G, 10A) over his last 13 games. He’ll take on a slumping Philadelphia defense that’s conceding 4.1 goals per game over their current 3-4-1 run. Fox is on fire, and he’s averaging 24:09 TOI/G this month. Look for him to make his way onto the scoresheet for an eighth straight game tonight.
D2: Devon Toews (COLO) | $4,800 DK, $5,900 FD
While we’d all love to play Cale Makar, I’m simply not looking to pay Makar prices. Instead, I’ll opt for Devon Toews, who is compiling another solid season. The veteran D-man is sixth on the team in both scoring (11G, 31A) and SOG (138). This is a solid matchup for Toews, with his Avs taking on a Canadiens squad that’s 27th in overall defense (3.24 GAA). They’ve also allowed the fourth-most high-danger shots on goal (167) during 5-on-5 play.
G: Joey Daccord (SEA) | $8,300 DK, $8,300 FD
While Seattle is riding an eight-game losing streak, Joey Daccord hasn’t been the reason for the slide. He’s putting together a very respectable season, going 17-15-11, while posting a 2.48 GAA (seventh) and .917 SV% (second). This is a great matchup for Daccord, as his Kraken hosts a Ducks team that’s 30th in overall offense (2.5 GPG), 23rd on the power play (17.84%) and 31st in 5-on-5 shots on goal (1,665). Look for Daccord to turn in another solid outing.
UTIL: Ryan O’Reilly (NAS) | $5,600 DK, $6,800 FD
I’ll round out my lineup with Ryan O’Reilly as his Predators look to keep their 17-game point streak (15-0-2) alive tonight against the Golden Knights. Over the 17 games, O’Reilly has added 13 points on five goals and eight helpers. The centerman is now fourth on the team in scoring (24G, 34A) and third in SOG (159). Honestly, I think we’re in for a lower-scoring affair in Nashville, but if the Preds find any offensive success, it’ll run through the Forsberg-O’Reilly-Nyquist line. Let’s take a flier on O’Reilly in the utility spot.
