Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (3/25)
Jalen Green (G – HOU): 8.5 1st quarter points
Jalen Green has been elite to start games for the Houston Rockets over his recent stretch, pouring in nine or more first quarter points in four of his last five and eight or more in each. Green has been on fire and is making the most of his volume through all four quarters. The inefficiency monster can always pop out its ugly head, especially when it comes to a player like Green, who has had consistency issues in the past (including this season). However, his recent form suggests that he will remain locked in tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers. Jab the More on Jalen for Monday night.
Pick: More
Grayson Allen (G/F – PHX): 3.5 1st quarter points
Grayson Allen has had some interesting first quarters for the Suns recently. He has been a major force to open some games while being a virtual nonfactor in others. Allen has scored four or more first quarter points in four of his last five games and is top-10 over his last 10 games with 7.3 first quarter points per game. He had two 12 point first quarters and a 21 point first quarter over that stretch, so the average probably should be higher, but Grayson appears just as comfortable taking two to three shots as he is heat checking himself throughout the first and letting it go from deep. Aggression level will be key, but with four or more first quarter points in seven of his last 10 games, form suggests a More play for Monday night against a team he scored four points in the opening stanza in the first game of the head-to-head back-to-back. Grab the More on Grayson for Monday night’s action.
Pick: More
Jayson Tatum (F – BOS): 7.5 1st quarter points
Tatum has been on an absolute tear to start games for the Celtics, scoring 10 or more first quarter points in each of his last five games for an insane 13.4 point average in just the opening frame. He averaged 8.0 shots per contest over that stretch, draining 60.0 percent of his field goal attempts. Tatum managed ‘just’ seven first quarter points against Atlanta in his last game against them but took just five first quarter shots. Tatum has put up more than five first quarter shots in every game since having his heart questioned after disappearing against the Denver Nuggets seven games ago (for him, he sat both of the Celtics games against Detroit). Tap the More on Tatum for Monday night basketball.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
