Former Ravens RB Gus Edwards agreed to a two-year, $6.5M deal with the Las Angeles Chargers during the NFL’s legal tampering period on Monday. Later in the day, Chargers RB Austin Ekeler agreed to terms with the Washington Commanders.
Let’s examine the immediate implications and fantasy football impact of Edwards agreeing to terms with the Chargers.

Gus Edwards Agrees to Deal With Los Angeles Chargers
The Gus Bus is headed to Hollywood.
Gus Edwards finished the 2023 season as the RB32 in points per game (10.4). Edwards entered the year with 13 career TDs and scored 13 rushing touchdowns in 2023 alone. No RB had more carries inside the 5-yard line than Edwards.
The team that always seems so obvious to land an ex-Ravens RB was the Chargers. Why? The Jim/John Harbaugh brotherly connection. And the fact that Greg Roman (formerly of the Ravens) is also the Chargers’ new offensive coordinator.
My best attempt at breaking down the RB landing spots in #NFLFreeAgency in 60 sec for fantasy football….

So, the pairing couldn’t be better for Edwards to find success as an integral part of an offense that wants to aggressively run the football under the former Michigan head coach and his old offensive coordinator, Greg Roman.
They want to run the football, and they will do so with Edwards in the driver’s seat. Edwards averaged more than 5 yards per carry in four seasons with Roman as his OC in Baltimore.
