On Monday afternoon, the Giants learned that RB Saquon Barkley had agreed to a deal with their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles. While it won’t be confused for a one-for-one replacement, New York added a new RB of their own on Monday, agreeing to sign former Bills and Texans RB Devin Singletary.
Let’s examine the immediate implications and fantasy impact of Singletary agreeing to terms with the Giants.

Devin Singletary Agrees to Deal With New York Giants
It didn’t take very long for Big Blue to find their replacement for Saquon Barkley. They took the cheaper RB option in the form of Devin Singletary – reuniting him with former Bills OC and current Giants HC Brian Daboll – who showed out as the RB1 in the Texans offense last season.
The journeyman running back took over the Houston backfield in Week 8 after a Dameon Pierce injury and never let go of the starting gig. 11.6 points per game as the RB23. Nothing new for Singletary, who has been a rock-solid fantasy producer when given starting opportunities in the second halves of multiple seasons throughout his NFL career.

He will lead the Giants backfield as a potential bell cow, but with major question marks at offensive line and quarterback, Singletary will be facing an uphill battle that Barkley dealt with his entire career spent in New York. But give Singletary credit for overcoming adversities last season behind a completely depleted Texans offensive line. He also usurped Pierce after a strong rookie season.
If the main rhetoric surrounding Singletary’s 2024 ADP is all about situation and not projected volume, he could end up being a screaming value on a barren depth chart.
